Some video games deserve a sequel that hasn’t been publicly announced yet. Here’s a list of sequels we would love to see in the future.

It’s not rare to see video games receiving a sequel in the industry. In fact, carrying on a franchise helps a studio establish a monopoly over a certain genre. Unfortunately, not every game in the world gets a sequel or turns into a long-running series.
Sometimes, saying goodbye to good games is tough because you want to experience more of that story. There are many game series that come to an end unexpectedly despite having the potential to turn into something great. That’s what the upcoming list is all about.
Video Game Sequels We Deserve
As we implied above, there are many games that will fit this category. However, we can’t include them in a list that is supposed to have only five titles. So, kindly note that the list is subject to the writer’s opinions.
Additionally, we have put the names of video games whose next installments have not been confirmed officially yet. We are not taking rumors into account because they should always be taken with a grain of salt. With that said, the list of video games that deserve a sequel goes as follows:
- Days Gone
- Guardians of the Galaxy
- Quantum Break
- Prototype 2
- God of War Ragnarok
Those who wish to know more about each game on the list or why they are put here can scroll below for more content.

1) Days Gone

Deacon St. John blasted his way through mountain passes and hordes of zombies to get back his wife in a zombie-filled world. We don’t find a lot of zombie apocalypse games centered around romantic love. This is exactly what made Days Gone so special. The story in this PlayStation exclusive game felt quite personal, while the gameplay loop was also fun.
The combat was pretty easy for the most part, especially after mid-game. However, the primary highlight of the game was its bike riding. You could feel all the upgrades and customizations when you took to the road.
Unfortunately, Sony didn’t take kindly to the initial criticisms of this game, and the franchise was canceled. Since the story was left on a cliffhanger, and we miss the gameplay it brought, we think Days Gone deserves a sequel.
2) Guardians of the Galaxy

In late 2020, Marvel’s The Avengers was released. The game underperformed because it didn’t meet the expectations of the excited fans. The character designs were lacking, and the live-service model was heavily criticized. A year later, Square Enix published another Marvel game called Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy.
Probably because of the performance that Avengers delivered, GOTG suffered slightly. As a result, we may never see a sequel to this game. But this RPG gave us a good tour of the chaotic and wholesome family of the Guardians.
The game didn’t just focus on one character. Instead, it tried keeping everybody in the spotlight and succeeded. The humor, the plot, the gameplay, the cosmetics, everything was on point. We think Guardians of the Galaxy would do great if it got a sequel.
3) Quantum Break

Remedy never fails to make interesting game concepts. Most of the time, I have seen them deliver, too! Maybe it’s my bias speaking, but Quantum Break had some of the best time-related combat mechanics in the industry. Only a few games have been able to include time manipulation in an action game, and Quantum Break does it really well. Unfortunately, there has been no sequel so far.
The studio released Control, and then there were rumors of QB 2 going under development. However, that rumored project was later confirmed to be Control 2, which is still under development. Irrespective of what the original plans were, we would love to see Quantum Break return to all gaming platforms with a sequel.
4) Prototype 2

We never truly had a standalone game where we get to play as Marvel’s “Venom”. If there was one, it would probably play a lot like Prototype. This game was pretty much an anti-hero simulator where you didn’t have to worry about the outcome based on your actions.
The same mechanics got passed down to its direct sequel: Prototype 2. The development studio behind these games couldn’t sustain itself, and the series ended abruptly after the third game. We believe Prototype 3 could have done a lot better, considering how the combat mechanics and movement had increased in the second game.
5) God of War Ragnarok

Kratos’ journey in the Norse mythology continued during the events of GoW Ragnarok. By the end of the game, he had realized his position in the pantheon as the new God of War, replacing Tyr. The game ended by showing how Kratos fulfilled his destiny and became a god worthy of worship because of his noble actions.
Fortunately, it wasn’t the end because the free Valhalla DLC for the game released around a year ago that showed us how Kratos’ journey is never wrapped up. We hope that this is not the end for the Ghost of Sparta and that we will be a part of his journey in the future as well.
