Sid Meier’s Civilization 7, the upcoming new strategy game from Firaxis Games is finally available for pre-order. Although the game was initially revealed earlier this year, pre-orders went live quite recently. Alongside the game’s pre-orders, publisher 2K Games also revealed a ton of additional information regarding the title, including details on the various editions, pre-order bonuses, early access, and the official PC system requirements.
Civilization 7 is a cross-generation title, meaning, it’s coming to both current-gen (PS5 and Xbox Series X|S) and previous-gen (PS4 and Xbox One) consoles. However, despite it being a cross-gen title, the game features a plethora of visual upgrades compared to its predecessors.
The visual uplift is best reflected in the game’s PC system requirements. Here’s everything you need to know about Sid Meier’s Civilization 7 and its official PC system requirements.
Sid Meier’s Civilization 7 PC System Requirements
Much like Firaxis Games’ previous few titles, i.e., Marvel’s Midnight Suns and Civilization 6, the upcoming Civilization title is mostly CPU-bound. Even at the lower end (minimum system requirement), the game needs a Ryzen 3 1200 or Core i3 10100 equivalent CPU. Although both Ryzen 3 1200 and i3 10100 are low to mid-range CPUs, they’re still a significant step up compared to the studios’ previous titles.
Furthermore, Civilization 7 also requires much more VRAM than any of Firaxis Games’ past offerings. The recommended GPU for the game is an RTX 2060 or RX 6600 equivalent. The RTX 2060 is a 6GB VRAM GPU with support for DLSS and frame generation (via FSR).

On the other hand, the RX 6600 is an 8 GB VRAM GPU with support for FSR and also frame generation (limited). Thankfully, the game isn’t particularly expensive on system memory, with the recommended amount being 16 GB. Sid Meier’s Civilization 7 File Size
According to the game’s official PC system requirements, Sid Meier’s Civilization 7 requires roughly 20 GB of storage space. Furthermore, much like in the case of Marvel’s Midnight Suns, Firaxis Games highly recommends installing Civilization 7 on an SSD, instead of an HDD. It should be noted that the game does have support for HDDs, owing to its cross-gen release. However, it’s best to install (or pre-load) it on an SSD in order to alleviate any potential technical issues.
