YouTuber iShowSpeed performed a backflip on the Hand of God statue in Guatemala during his South America travel series.
YouTuber Darren “iShowSpeed” Watkins Jr. is known for his IRL (in real life) livestreams and gaming content. As part of his latest travel series, the content creator is visiting South America. His last stream was from Guatemala on January 14, 2025, where he did his signature backflip on the Hand of God.
Within 10 hours of posting his stunt on Instagram, iShowSpeed gained over 37 million views and 3.1 million likes. It is already one of Speed’s most-watched Instagram Reels to date.
The YouTuber recently visited Colombia and had some viral moments with fellow content creators Luis Fernano Villa Alvarez aka Westcol and Addison “YourFellowArab” Pierre Mallouf. The streamer is currently in Guatemala and will visit other parts of South America in the coming weeks.
Fans React to Speed’s Backflip in Guatemala
Internet users had mixed reactions to iShowSpeed’s backflip on the Hand of God in Guatemala. Some of them commended the streamer for the trick, while others were scared that the stunt could have ended in a mishap.
“Nah I respect Speed for always risking his life to give his fans this type of content,” said @royal_bobby24.
“Speed a better man than me cuz I wouldn’t do that even for money,” commented @Aland_118.
“That’s a crazy man right there lol. GOAT!” @Clips_ETH said.

“Glad he landed it but Speed shouldn’t take the risk for a few clicks and views,” wrote @suayrez.
“Where’s the “Don’t try this at home”? You know literal children watch him right?” @stephskii_ commented.
“But he actually didn’t risk his life because there is a safety net under the hand! Therefore, apart from falling from the hand onto the next, there wasn’t any risk at all!” wrote @jwmuk.
Some internet users clarified that there is a safety net under the statue and Speed’s stunt was not as dangerous as it looked.

During iShowSpeed’s South America tour, he teamed up with Westcol to try out local delicacies in Colombia. He tried a local dish and choked on fish bones. Westcol had to step in and help Speed clear his throat and breathe properly. Speed’s exaggerated reactions during the incident went viral on social media.

During the same trip, the YouTuber met YourFellowArab and played baseball with a few locals. Some Colombians got excited to see Speed and threw cornstarch at the YouTuber, making him think it was cocaine.

The moment went viral and YourFellowArab took Speed to have real coca leaves later. Despite telling Speed that the leaves were mild stimulants and safe to consume, the YouTuber was hesitant to try them.
