Take a sneak peek at the Marvel Rivals’ hero release schedule which was officially revealed by the game’s director.
Marvel Rivals started off without revealing a hero schedule and introduced us to 33 characters to enjoy right away. To be honest, there are still characters that I haven’t tried on the existing roster because I am too busy playing as my top 3. But let’s not ignore the fact that we all get excited when new characters drop!
The buzz around the Fantastic Four coming to Marvel Rivals got so loud that their Ability Kits had also leaked. Now, we have two members of Marvel’s ‘first family,’ with the rest of the two joining mid-season in S1 itself. But will this trend continue ahead? How often should we expect new characters?
The game director behind Marvel Rivals, Guangyun Chen, was in an interview with Metro. The interviewer asked what the character-release schedule looks like. To this, Chen replied:
We’ll actually be breaking down each season into two halves. The length of one season is three months. And for each half of the season, we will introduce a new hero.
The development team’s main idea is to keep the game as fresh as possible. Just like Season 1: Eternal Night Falls, all seasons will be spread across 3 months and divided into two phases. Each phase will have at least one hero. Good for us that we are getting two in each phase this season, thanks to the Fantastic Four. But moving forward, it looks like NetEase is planning for two heroes every three months. They will follow a similar schedule for new maps and modes as well.
We already know the lineup for the second phase of S1. Get ready to meet The Thing and the Human Torch sometime in late February or early March.
What Will the Hero Release Schedule in Marvel Rivals Bring Us Next?
Even after revealing the release schedule timeline, Chen didn’t tell us which heroes will come out first. So, after the Fantastic Four have arrived, there are a few names that fans would probably like to see getting released on priority.
There have been numerous rumors about certain characters joining the roster soon. These rumors started close to the game’s full release on December 6, 2024. That’s right! People have been eager to play as new characters since Marvel Rivals first dropped.
Along with the Human Torch and Mister Fantastic, Ultron’s Ability Kit got leaked. Despite looking absolutely amazing, the kit seemed incomplete, suggesting that we will probably not see him any time soon. Now, it’s not a surprise that he isn’t here already.
Moreover, Blade‘s character model was also found in files, as some online leaks claimed. Moreover, the Seasonal Event, Midnight Features had a Gallery Card that contained Blade’s arrival and lore in New York during the events of Eternal Night Falls. So, he is technically in the game already but not on the roster because Dracula has locked him away.
I think Blade and Ultron could be the next two heroes that Marvel Rivals releases. What do you think?
