TikTok Has Resumed Operation in the U.S.: Are MLBB and Marvel Snap Coming Back?

TikTok has resumed its operations in the U.S. after an almost 12-hour hiatus. Let’s see whether MLBB and Marvel Snap are following suit.

The services of TikTok, the short-form video-hosting service, have started to be restored in the U.S. after a temporary and voluntary shutdown, which lasted less than a day.

The parent company of TikTok, ByteDance was given an ultimatum to shut down operations of the app in the U.S. due to its ties with China while possessing user data of the millions of its app users.

ByteDance also owns the beloved digital card-based game, Marvel Snap, which has also fallen under the “Ban Hammer.” Chinese company Moonton’s most-played mobile MOBA, Mobile Legends: Bang Bang (MLBB) has also followed suit.

The app has resumed operations owing to a promise from the recently elected POTUS and soon-to-attain office, Donald Trump.

The message displayed to the users of the app after the app became operational was: “Thanks for your patience and support. As a result of President Trump’s efforts, TikTok is back in the U.S.!”

Mr. Trump promised an executive order following his inauguration on Monday to delay enforcement of the divest-or-ban law. Within hours of this announcement, TikTok users in the U.S. could once again indulge in short-form videos in the app.

Are MLBB and Marvel Snap Making Triumphant Returns as Well?

This is a rather tricky question to answer. Although Marvel Snap is developed by Second Dinner Studios, its publisher, Nuverse is a concern of ByteDance. ByteDance was mandated to shift the ownership of the American parts to non-Chinese entities because of national security and data privacy reasons. The company, in turn, took matters to the court and has lost at both the lower court and recently, the Supreme Court.

Nuverse also owns Moonton, the company behind Mobile Legends: Bang Bag. Since one of ByteDance’s apps has been promised an executive order, more can follow suit. It mostly relies on how well ByteDance
