Can you play Helldivers 2 on Xbox Series X|S? That’s a question that has been plaguing many Xbox owners of late. For the uninitiated, Helldivers 2, the massively popular co-op shooter developed by Arrowhead Game Studios, took the videogame community by storm when it launched in early 2024.

However, at release, the game was only available on PlayStation 5 and PC. If you were an Xbox console owner, you were essentially left twiddling your thumbs. Since then, quite some time has passed, but have the developers reconsidered their decision to bring the game to Microsoft’s consoles?

Helldivers 2 on Xbox Series X|S?

For the time being, Helldivers 2 is unavailable on both the Xbox Series S and Series X. And, there have been no concrete declarations from the developers on whether they have plans to release an Xbox version in the future. Keep in mind that Sony is the publishing company for the game, which could be the reason behind Helldivers skipping release on the competing platform.

However, over the past year, there has been no dearth of rumors and speculations surrounding the co-op game release on the Xbox consoles. Let’s take a look at what those rumors suggested.

Rumors of Helldivers 2 Releasing on Xbox Series X|S

In October 2024, a community manager at Arrowhead Game Studios claimed that fans should “never say never” when the topic of Helldivers 2 on Xbox came up. He also said it could happen and the finer details were up to Sony and Microsoft to sort out. Coming from an insider, this was a big thing for all those waiting to get their hands on the game on their Xbox consoles.

However, nothing eventually came of these rumors as Sony didn’t seem too keen to port the title over. Then, in November, Xbox insider Shpeshal Nick Baker said during a podcast that the Xbox version of the game wasn’t happening. Needless to say, this left many disappointed, especially those who didn’t own a gaming PC or Sony’s console.

Unfortunately, this means that if you are amongst the fans hoping to play Helldivers 2 on Xbox Series X|S, there’s no good news in sight. Things may change in the future and the title may eventually land on Microsoft’s platform. If that happens, we’ll keep you posted.
