Rebecca Scarlet is first seen at a mixer with her friends, Erica and Ellen. At first, she is very indifferent about the date, but by the end of it, she ends up having a very different view of Asta. This change in perspective is a key moment in Black Clover.

Rebecca Scarlet is the oldest sister in her family, with three brothers and two sisters. She works at a restaurant to provide for her family. It is shown that every day, she carries her baby brother and works hard until the end of the day.
She comes from a commoner family in Black Clover. Her parents are not shown, leading to the assumption that she is an orphan. She is known for her cooking and is said to be one of the top two cooks in the universe of Black Clover. Most of the time, people mistake her siblings for her kids. This could be because of how motherly she takes care of and provides for them. Being only sixteen, she took the responsibility of getting a job to be a better provider.
What Is Her Relationship With Asta?
Rebecca met Asta during a blind date, which initially started with her being disinterested in him. To break the ice, Asta tries to engage in small talk, but she dismisses him. Then, they bond over having siblings and no parents. During this conversation, a creepy middle-aged guy walks up and starts harassing her. Asta knocks him out.
They both run to the back alley of the restaurant, where Rebecca develops a spark of romantic feelings for him. She asks him if he has feelings for someone else and gets dejected when Asta asks her what exactly a mixer is for. She invites him to come over and play with her siblings.

Asta has never seen her as more than a friend and maintains a platonic relationship. In contrast, Rebecca sees him as a romantic interest, which, over time, turns into admiration. Rebecca also had a small rivalry with Noelle over Asta. It was a cute interaction, seeing both of them being passive-aggressive (which they eventually sorted out).

She comes off as a distant person who does not want to be part of the date. However, it turns out Rebecca Scarlet is a very kind and hardworking girl. She chose to come to the mixer because she felt responsible for marrying an eligible guy who would also help take care of her little siblings.
She was earnest in putting her best foot forward as she dressed up to present herself to a possible suitor. In her daily life, she dresses modestly, wearing commoner clothes that are not flashy.
She keeps to herself and ensures her siblings are well cared for. When the middle-aged man tried to harass and court her, she refused his advances. Rebecca has morals and does not compromise. Once she opened up to Asta, they were able to find a common topic in their shared experiences of being orphans. That means she does not have anything else on her mind but taking care of those kids.
Even though her character was sidelined, she openly supported and rooted for Asta when others doubted him. This shows that she stands against injustice. She is not afraid to support her friends and the people she believes are right in a given situation.
What Happens to Her in Black Clover
Rebecca Scarlet’s character started as someone influential in Asta’s life and had the potential to become a romantic interest. However, for unclear reasons, she ended up becoming a minor side character. Fortunately, she is alive.
When she attended the Star Award Festival, where the Black Bulls were awarded the second-best squad, everyone else questioned the result. She was the one who stood by and defended them.
Rebecca Scarlet is seen rooting for Asta from the sidelines and gets annoyed when people do not recognize his potential. She was ranked 22nd in popularity during the first voting, but her ranking drastically dropped. Some fans believe that because her popularity declined, the author gave her less screen time.
She has not been completely written off, so there is a possibility of her making a comeback in the future.

After the arc where Asta rescues Rebecca’s brothers, her presence in Black Clover significantly diminishes. While she briefly contributes to the lighthearted rivalry between Noelle and Asta’s admirers, this dynamic is later resolved, leaving Rebecca with little narrative significance. However, given her kind-hearted nature, strong work ethic, and adorable personality, she deserves more screen time.
As a hardworking older sister who takes on responsibilities beyond her years, Rebecca could have played a more significant role as a comfort character in the series. Her presence could have provided Asta with emotional support and highlighted the struggles of commoners in the Clover Kingdom. Although her character has faded into the background, there is still potential for her return, where she could contribute more meaningfully to the story.
