How powerful is Saitama in One Punch Man? Analyzing the Caped Baldy’s abilities and feats in the animanga series

One Punch Man is an incredibly entertaining webcomic series that received anime and manga adaptations. Both mediums are phenomenally entertaining and each of them provides a unique experience. This title is successful for various reasons. It has some of the most high-octane action that keeps readers/viewers on the edge of their seats.
Additionally, the author is very skilled in character writing. Therefore, character interactions and their progression are quite fascinating to read and view. The protagonist of the series is Saitama.
Those who haven’t read the manga or watched the anime might not know the extent of his powers. Saitama in One Punch Man is so powerful that he can quite literally beat most enemies with just one punch. Hence the name of the series.
The Caped Baldy is the most unassuming hero. He does not stand out when compared to his peers. Additionally, these heroes are quite popular among citizens of the country. In fact, there is King-inspired merchandise sold in various stores.
However, there are very few who can rival Saitama’s strength. In fact, there isn’t a single character who has managed to beat the Caped Baldy. Therefore, it’s safe to assume that he is the strongest character in the One Punch Man series.
Let’s take a closer look at his abilities and feats in the animanga series. These indicators will give us an understanding of his standing in the Hero Association.
Saitama’s Rank in One Punch Man

Saitama undertook the license test to join the Hero Association. He was placed in the C-Class category and was ranked 342nd. This is clearly not a reflection of his abilities as a hero. He performed exceptionally well in the physical segment. However, he didn’t do well in other aspects of the test.
As the series progressed, he climbed up to the 5th rank in C-Class. He took on strong opponents like Boros, Deep Sea King, and Gyoketsu among others. He became a B-Class hero in the anime. However, he progressed further in the manga.
He took on Garou in his Cosmic Fear Mode. His performance there stood out, and he was promoted to the A-Class category. One Punch Man Chapter 172 confirmed his current rank – A-Class rank 39. This is Saitama’s current rank in the One Punch Man series. However, this is not a reflection of his abilities. He is clearly S-Class material, and the Hero Association will eventually realize it.
Saitama’s Abilities in One Punch Man

His durability is off the charts. In fact, it’s so good that he quite literally withstood attacks that imitated nuclear fusion and fission. Nuclear radiation had no effect on him. His biggest strength is his raw power and lack of emotional attachment.
This allows him to fight without letting his emotions take over. His punching ability cannot be compared to anyone else. Even some of the best S-Class heroes known for their speed were slower than Saitama. Flashy Flash and Speed-o’-Sound Sonic were slower than him.
Saitama pulled off an unbelievable feat in the manga. He managed to physically kick a portal. Furthermore, he learned how to travel back in time. His abilities cannot be explained with logic. He is powerful because he managed to break his limiters.
He ran 10 kilometers and performed 100 pushups, 100 sit-ups, and 100 squats every day for three years. This ultimately broke his limiters, and he became the strongest human being that we know so far. Furthermore, Saitama exhibits constant growth and has unlimited potential.
Saitama’s Most Notable Feats in One Punch Man

Saitama defeated Boros with ease. He quite literally devoured planets out of boredom. Boros wanted to fight someone strong and even he was no match for Saitama. Additionally, the Caped Baldy literally changed the weather with just one punch when he defeated Deep Sea King. However, his most impressive feats can be seen in the Monster Association arc.
He fought Garou who learned how to manipulate every single force that existed in the cosmos. Saitama was impervious to nuclear radiation and even blew up a planet with just a sneeze. That being said, his most ridiculous feat was bringing back Genos from the dead. Garou had killed the Demon Cyborg. However, Saitama learned to time travel and defeated him before Genos and the other heroes died. These are some of Saitama’s most notable feats in One Punch Man.
Saitama’s Role in One Punch Man

Saitama is the protagonist of the series. However, his role goes beyond just being the main hero of the story. There are plenty of themes explored in the show and Saitama is the medium through which these themes are presented to fans.
Saitama deals with debilitating loneliness. There’s a general lack of color in his life. Many people spend their lives striving towards perfection in their craft. There comes a point where competition no longer exists. While the feeling is great, there is also no one to push you and force you to get better at your craft.
Saitama experiences something similar in his day-to-day life. He also seems rather unidimensional. However, the author has forced him to play the role of a mentor to Genos, which pushes him out of his comfort zone. This ultimately leads to character progression.
Conclusion
Saitama is currently the strongest character in One Punch Man. God seems to be the main antagonist at the moment. However, we do not know this entity’s abilities at the time being. Therefore, Saitama is the strongest being we know and there isn’t a single character that has managed to bring out Saitama’s full potential. It will be interesting to see if God or any other entity can challenge Saitama and push his limits.
