Let’s be honest, we all would love a giant monster as our pet. Unfortunately, it is not possible in reality, but is it also impossible in Monster Hunter Wilds? We all know that hunting monsters is the primary objective or the core of the gameplay in Monster Hunter games. So, it is only natural for the fans of the franchise to wonder if the developers are going to allow them to tame some monsters other than their mounts in the latest installment. But sadly, there is no taming feature in Monster Hunter Wilds.

Taming Monsters Is Not Possible in Monster Hunter Wilds

Unfortunately you can’t (Image via CAPCOM)

We have seen a taming system in other games like the spin-off Monster Hunter: Stories, but it is not a common feature when it comes to the mainline titles. In the mainline games, you can either hunt and kill a monster or capture it and bring it back with you. And with so many new additions coming to the game, the ability to tame a monster would certainly make a lot of fans happy. But unfortunately, it has been confirmed that you can’t tame monsters in Monster Hunter Wilds.

With that said, we will admit that we don’t know what the future holds and what the new patches and upgrades are going to bring after the game releases on February 28, 2025, so there might still be a ray of hope left for the fans. However, it is still unlikely that the developers would add such a crucial feature anytime soon in the game.

While taming is out of options right now, Monster Hunter Wilds still allows you to capture monsters. There is always the possibility that you might like a monster or two on your journey and want to keep them with you. Well, the developers did think of this scenario, so you will be able to capture and take that monster back to your arena in Wounded Hollow. The best thing about bringing monsters back to your arena in Monster Hunter Wilds is that, unlike some of the previous entries, the monsters stay there forever.

Conclusion

Additionally, Monster Hunter Rise did have Wyvern Riding, which allowed the players to control and use a monster for a short amount of time. We don’t know why the mechanic is absent in the latest title. Lastly, even though players would have enjoyed a Wyvern Riding or Taming Mechanic in Monster Hunter Wilds, we still don’t see any such feature coming in future patches or updates.
