The new-generation update for Grand Theft Auto V is on the horizon. It’s a free upgrade for the players who own the Legacy Edition, offering several Ray Tracing options along with performance updates.

Now, the update has dropped both on Epic Games and Steam. However, Epic Games users have reported several issues regarding the recent update, the common issue being the ownership verification failing. Here’s how you can play GTA 5 Enhanced on Epic Games.

To receive the free upgrade on Epic Games, you must have the Legacy Edition of GTA 5 available in your library. In the launcher, you can find both editions as different entities; you’ll have to redownload the game wholly.

The process to download the Enhanced Edition is as follows:

  • Open Epic Games (log in with the account that owns GTA V).
  • Head to the library and search for Grand Theft Auto V: Enhanced Edition (will be present alongside the Legacy Version).
  • Select the path and click on download.
  • Wait for it to complete, and it’s ready to play.

Additionally, if you don’t own the Legacy version and plan to buy Grand Theft Auto V soon, you can purchase the Enhanced Edition directly from the store.

Once the game has been downloaded, you can click on play, and it will launch the Rockstar Games Launcher.

Known Issues With Epic Games Launcher

Currently, many Reddit users have complained that the Enhanced Version Edition shows ‘Buy’ instead of Install in the Epic Games launcher. To fix this issue, open the ‘Unreal Engine’ tab from shortcuts and return to the library section. This will resolve the issue.

However, if you’re facing an issue where the Rockstar Launcher fails to verify your purchase, you might have to wait. Rockstar Support has commented on it, and the developers are working to resolve the issue. Moreover, the fix will be rolled out in a few hours, and you will ultimately be able to play the game without any persisting errors.
