Ubisoft has confirmed that Assassin’s Creed Shadows will launch for the Steam Deck as well. Here is everything we know.
In an unexpected turn of events, Ubisoft has recently announced that their newest game, Assassin’s Creed Shadows, will launch on the Steam Deck as well. Fans were previously concerned regarding its performance and ability to run on the Steam Deck handheld. This was due to the game’s high graphical fidelity, which in turn had a high system requirement.
This news is sure to delight lots of fans who were hoping to play Assassin’s Creed Shadows from the comfort of their beds or couches with a handheld device like the Steam Deck. However, its performance is still uncertain, so it is advised to temper your expectations.

Ubisoft took to X on March 12 to proclaim that Assassin’s Creed Shadows will be playable on the Steam Deck. This announcement comes just a week before its release on March 20, 2025.
Although fans will surely positively take this piece of news, their expectations should be tempered. Players should wait until Valve certifies this game to be playable.
Why Is This a Shocking Turn of Events?
In an earlier Q & A session which took place in February 2025, the exact opposite was stated.
Question: “Will the game be Steam Deck certified at launch?“
Answer by Pierre F: “At launch, the game will not be compatible with Steam Deck, due to the fact it is below our minimum specs for PC.”
This earlier statement makes the new announcement come as a shock for most fans, as they had not expected this title to come to the Steam Deck. Regardless, now all fans can do is wait for Valve to verify the game for the Steam Deck. As mentioned earlier, Assassin’s Creed Shadows releases worldwide on March 20, 2025.
