In a world of AAA titles full of explosions and action, it’s rare to find a game that lets you slow things down and cleanse your soul from the bloodshed. Cozy games have been a thing for a while and are possibly the best aspect of modern gaming. These games involve doing mundane yet relaxing activities, which may not feel grand but are simply fun. Cozy games like Stardew Valley, Animal Crossing, and Unpacking have been soothing the minds of countless frustrated gamers.

But today isn’t about the big ones. In this article, we’ll take a look at a hidden gem in the cozy gaming genre. Today’s highlight is PowerWash Simulator, developed by FuturLab and published by Square Enix, released in July 2022. Players are equipped with high-pressure sprays to clean the pavements, patios, vehicles, and neighborhoods of Muckingham. The game focuses on the relaxation of spraying water across different surfaces, without the pressure of a timer or scoreboard.

Is It the Best Cozy Game?

While other cozy games like A Short Hike and Caravan SandWitch bombard the player with lush forests and scenic mountains, PowerWash Simulator provides players with the satisfaction of cleanliness. You can take it slow and unwind your stress to the sound of high-pressure water cleaning away and sparkling up the town (and your mind).

The game features a career mode, which you can play solo or in co-op with a friend, letting them clean off their worries. For those looking for a bit of pressure, there’s a challenge mode, with Clock Challenge—a race against time. The mode also features a Water Challenge, where you must get the job done with minimal water.

Players can customize their washers, nozzles, and cleaners to get through tougher and grimier dirt. The game also features different washer skins and gloves, so you can clean with style. You can create mud-soaked artworks using your washer as a brush. The town of Muckingham has various public parks, mansions, and other attractions for you to create a masterpiece on.

Is It Worth the Price?

PowerWash Simulator is available for just $24.99 on Steam, with a few free DLCs as a bonus. And for just 24 bucks, it’s a total steal compared to other AAA games that are currently on the market. The game is also available with Xbox Game Pass Ultimate for Xbox consoles and Windows. It is also available on Xbox Cloud Gaming for accessibility.

On PlayStation and Nintendo Switch, though, the game is even cheaper, as it only costs $17.49. This is a significantly better deal than the Steam version, considering the free DLCs. PC and Xbox players have the advantage of trying out the game on Xbox Game Pass before making a decision. There’s also a demo on Steam that you can try out with limitations but still get the gist of the game.

For $17.49 on PlayStation and Switch, it’s certainly one of the better deals if you’re looking for a no-pressure gameplay experience. If you’re into cozy games, PowerWash Simulator is a must-have in your collection.

There’s also a sequel in development titled PowerWash Simulator 2 for consoles and PC. The game has no release window as of now. Could it live up to the original game’s legacy? Only time will tell.
