As you jump into Ashenfall and begin your journey in RuneScape Dragonwilds, you’re immediately notified of the various things you can craft, as well as the resources you’ll need to survive. You’re presented with some enemies to defeat, and you do so with ease. However, as much as the game likes to throw you into combat scenarios, it never dives deep into the combat systems.

RuneScape Dragonwilds features a fairly in-depth combat system, allowing you to dodge and parry enemies, with different weapons dictating your overall playstyle. Parrying, especially, is an incredibly important unlockable skill that prevents you from taking damage while making you look badass. The technique is most important against the Goblins, who charge at you with unprecedented aggression. Parries are a great way of slowing them down and finishing them off.

If you’re looking to master RuneScape Dragonwilds’ combat and wish to learn how to parry, you’ve come to the right place. In this guide, we shall discuss how to parry enemies in RuneScape Dragonwilds.

Before you get to parrying enemies in RuneScape Dragonwilds, you’ll first need to unlock the skill from the skill tree. You unlock the parry skill once you reach Level 5 of the Attack skill tree in the game. When you’re just starting out, Level 5 may seem far away, so we recommend hunting down Goblins and fighting as many enemies as you can to farm XP and level up quickly.

Once the parry skill is unlocked, you then need to ensure you’re carrying the right equipment. You can parry using your melee weapons or a shield. If you don’t have a shield already, you can craft a basic Wooden Shield using 10x Ash Logs. Chop down trees to collect the Ash Logs, and then head over to the Crafting Table menu to craft the Wooden Shield.

Armed with a weapon and shield, you can then parry enemy attacks by simply timing and pressing the block button (RMB) at the exact moment an enemy attack is about to land. Timing is key if you wish to parry, so we recommend practicing the timing against enemies roaming out in the wild. Once you successfully parry, you will leave the enemy stunned and vulnerable to a finishing blow.
