Curious if Tempest Rising will make its way to Xbox Game Pass? Here’s everything we know about its release status.
Tempest Rising puts a modern spin on the classic RTSs such as the Command & Conquer series, recapturing its micro-heavy magic and breathing new life into the genre with innovative economy and upgrade mechanics. Built in Unreal Engine 5, the strategy game has sleek visuals and special effects that hold up to today’s graphics standards, yet have a nostalgic element to them.
Tempest Rising accidentally launched a week early from its planned release date of April 24, 2025. The early release was a perk that was meant to be exclusive to Deluxe Edition owners. The developers took it in stride and rolled with the new release schedule on Steam. However, the game hasn’t seen a release on the Xbox Store yet, leading to questions about the possibility of its launch on the PC Game Pass.
Is Tempest Rising Coming to Xbox Game Pass?
Tempest Rising will not feature on Xbox Game Pass upon release. The game is only available on PC and Steam Deck, and has no plans for a console release. That is not to say PC-only games can’t come to Game Pass. The Total War: Warhammer games and most RTS titles on Game Pass are examples of that. However, it doesn’t seem like Tempest Rising will be joining that list, as there has been no official announcement from the developers or publishers.
Tempest Rising: Game Pass Possibility
For a game to be listed on Game Pass, the developers and publishers have to reach a deal with Microsoft first. One indicator of the possibility is whether they have released any of their games on Xbox Game Pass in the past. This is not the case for Slipgate Ironworks’ previous games, Ghost Runner and Phantom Fury. The same holds true for 3D Realms’ Mandragora and Knights Peak’s assortment of games.
Nevertheless, if the arrangement is mutually beneficial, a deal can be reached to bring Tempest Rising to Game Pass. A recent example of this is Atomfall’s release on Game Pass. Rebellion, the developer behind the game, thanked Xbox for their support. Rebellion’s CEO, Jason Kingsley, even called Microsoft a fantastic partner to work with. Through Game Pass, Atomfall was able to reach a wider audience, and its success on the platform became mutually beneficial. So, Tempest Rising has a chance of releasing on Game Pass, albeit a very slim one.
