Let’s dive into how big the GTA 6 map could possibly be based on information from Rockstar Games as well as community speculations and leaks.

While there is little information about GTA 6 so far, community discussions on the internet, including predictions and possible leaks regarding the size of the map are at an all-time high. The only official information we have comes from Rockstar Games through the first teaser trailer. In that one and only trailer, so far, it’s revealed that GTA 6 will revisit a modern-day version of Vice City.
Despite little information to work on, the community made work with what they had and compiled leaks and theories regarding the size of the map and the potential locations it will feature. Let’s take a look at some of the GTA 6 Map Predictions and see what the community thinks will be in the game.

Where Will GTA 6 Be Set? Map Location Predictions Explained

According to Rockstar Games, GTA 6 is set in the state of Leonida. It’s a place where you can bask in the neon-light streets of Vice City at night. On top of that, due to its warm and sunny climate, the beaches are one of its tourist attractions. However, you might be wondering how big the map is.
Diving into leaks, according to a now-deleted user back in December 2023:
“The map looked huge, I saw it on a monitor briefly as I was walking past one of the devs, it looked like there were 2-3 big clusters of roads which I’m assuming were cities/towns.”
How did they get hold of this information? They claim to have previously been in charge of cleaning Rockstar Games’ offices and have seen the monitors of developers who are at work.
If this holds true, the map can indeed be huge. GTA 5 only has one map, and it’s Los Santos. If we get three cities for GTA 6, including Vice City, it should be at least twice the size of the GTA 5 map.
Due to how fake leaks for GTA 6 have been spreading like wildfire, a lot of fans were skeptical of this post. Checking in the comments, one of the moderators of the subreddit claims that the leaks were most likely legitimate after talking to the user who shared the leak. This gives a bit more credibility to this post. However, we can’t say for sure until Rockstar Games confirms it. Perhaps we will know more if there is a Trailer 2 for GTA 6 someday.

Possible Name Origin for Leonida
If we go deeper as to why it’s called the state of Leonida, a Reddit user by the name Alphaguy777 shared that it might be based on Juan Ponce de León y Figueroa, the Spaniard who discovered Florida. With that in mind, it looks like Florida is the inspiration for the game’s setting.
The Leonida Mapping Project
Rockstar Games has yet to reveal any potential locations that can be explored in the game. However, the community banded together and worked on the Leonida Mapping Project. This project aims to try and reconstruct the GTA 6 map based on what little information we have for the game.
Until Rockstar Games provides more information about the map for the game, this is our best bet at understanding the layout and locations of GTA 6, based on the clues and material available so far.
The map recreation is a work in progress and is being updated frequently by the community. However, keep in mind that it is not official and is purely based on currently available information.
