Oblivion Remastered features a wide variety in its main storyline. In addition to the main missions, there are also side quests to keep the gameplay engaging and challenging. One such mission is Go Fish, which requires you to help an aging fisherman collect Slaughterfish scales dropped by the rare Rumare Slaughterfish.

Here is a detailed article that contains everything you need to know to complete the Go Fish quest in Oblivion Remastered.

To begin the Go Fish quest in Oblivion Remastered, you must arrive at the Weye settlement, located west of the Imperial City. Once you reach the city, locate Aelwin Merowald’s house and speak to him. However, it is best to visit him during the daytime, as he is more likely to be home and available for conversation.

Once you arrive, find Aelwin Merowald and talk to him to trigger a cutscene. In the scene, he describes his old age and his need for twelve Rumare Slaughterfish scales. These scales can be obtained from Lake Rumare, located directly north of the cottage.

Head straight from Aelwin’s cottage, and after crossing the Wawnet Inn, you will spot Lake Rumare. The best strategy to collect the Slaughterfish is to search along the shoreline first. You can also find some of the fish flopping on the nearby rocks, so killing them should not be too difficult.

Once you’ve gathered several Slaughterfish from the shore, you’ll need to enter the water to collect the rest. However, be cautious, as these fish may try to sneak up and attack you. Be prepared to fight them off using an enchanted sword.

Once you collect twelve Rumare Slaughterfish scales, return to Aelwin Merowald to complete the mission’s objective. As mentioned earlier, visit him during the daytime to avoid waiting for hours. Handing over the scales will earn you a ring, Jewel of the Rumare, which comes with the following enchantments:

  • Water Breathing on Self
  • Fortify Athletics on Self

That covers everything about the Go Fish quest in Oblivion Remastered.
