The Precinct largely has two major endings. There are moments in the story and free-roam gameplay where you can choose from a preset of dialogue and action options. The ending is no different when it comes to the dialogue part of the story. However, you can only get one out of the two set endings. They shape the post-endgame Precinct pretty differently from one another, but the premise of the game remains the same.

Both Endings in The Precinct Explored

It is important to note that there are no “good” or “bad” endings in The Precinct. Both the endings that you will arrive at will serve you well as a player. The only notable change will be at the precinct that you work at. The endings are as follows:

  • Publishing the Evidence
  • Destroying the Evidence

You will get to this point of choice once you have arrived at Kavanaugh’s Bar. Officer Kelly is waiting for you at the roof where you find Chief Jackson and Antonio having a confrontation. The latter will then open fire at you, and you have to eliminate all his thugs on the roof before you terminate him.

Then, you can have a chat with Chief Jackson, who reveals that the reason he and the protagonist’s father were working for the August Gang was because of the lack of funding. They provided August Gang with a number of confiscated weapons from other gangs while they offered them money. In a confrontation, Chief Cordell was murdered a few years ago, leaving Chief Jackson in charge and guilty for his best friend’s lost life.

All these connections are stored in a file in a safe inside Jackson’s office at the precinct. He gives you a hint at the code of the safe hidden behind the big picture, which is 0530. This is when you get the option to either publish this evidence showing the corruption of Chief Jackson and the late Chief Cordell or destroy it.

Publishing the Evidence

After receiving the evidence file, the protagonist, Cordell Jr. is faced with a dilemma. If he chooses to reveal the true corruption to the public via the hardworking journalists at the Averno Sentinel, there are certain consequences to this action. All you need to do is drive to the waypoint and enter the building. A cutscene will play, and credits will roll out.

Afterward, you will find three major newspaper headlines. The first blames Chief Jackson for the murder and corruption scandal. The second reveals how August Gang’s kingpin is now down. Lastly, the late Chief Cordell’s reputation receives a stain, and his memorial is to be removed from the city.

Later on, Chief Singh takes up the position of the new chief at the precinct. Kelly is back at work. He, Kowalski, and Chief Singh debrief the team and personally appreciate Cordell Jr. for his truthfulness. Besides that, his duty as a good cop remains unchanged.

Destroying the Evidence

If Cordell Jr. instead chooses to destroy the evidence, he will need to drive over to a different location. This time, he arrives at the monumental memorial built for his father, the late Chief Cordell. He chooses to keep this corruption a secret now that August Gang has been put out of business.

After the credits roll out, there are three new headlines on the front of the Averno Sentinel. The first one reveals how Cordell Jr. saved Chief Jackson from the clutches of Antonio. The second, once again, refers to the kingpin of the gang getting eliminated. Lastly, the headline reveals how Cordell Jr. lives up to his father’s legacy.

Back at the precinct, Chief Jackson returns to his office and debriefs the team alongside Kowalski and Kelly. The latter two understand your take on it and respect you for it. Jackson can’t express enough gratitude for not revealing his past corrupt actions and implies that you will get promoted eventually.
