Apple AirPods Pro 3 Leaked: Here’s What You Need To Know

According to the leaks, the much-needed upgrade to the AirPods Pro 2 is reportedly launching in the form of AirPods Pro 3.

The Apple AirPods Pro 2 was launched back in 2022, which is almost three years ago. They received a small upgrade in 2023 in the form of a USB-C connection as opposed to a Lightning port, but that was about it. The AirPods Pro 2 didn’t receive any other upgrades. However, that might change soon. According to recent leaks, the AirPods Pro 3 is reportedly coming this year and will include some decent upgrades over its predecessor.

In this article, we will analyze the leaks and explain everything you need to know about the upcoming AirPods Pro model.

Everything New With the Reported Apple AirPods Pro 3

The new leaks come from Bloomberg’s analyst Mark Gurman and @Kosutami_Ito on X. While they both have a great track record of delivering accurate leaks about Apple products ahead of their release, Mark has been in the industry for longer. According to their leaks, here are all the major changes and features coming with the AirPods Pro 3:

1) Audio Chipset and ANC Upgrades

The AirPods Pro 2 are powered by Apple’s H2 chipset. It handles both audio and Active Noise Cancellation (ANC) processing, and the sound quality wouldn’t be so amazing without it. The leaks suggest AirPods Pro 3 is reportedly coming with an upgraded chipset. With a new chipset, likely to be called Apple H3, the sound clarity and ANC should improve drastically. In fact, @Kosutami_Ito on X believes the ANC upgrade will be much bigger than its predecessor.

2) Buds and Case Design Changes

According to Mark Gurman, the case of the AirPods Pro 3 will come with a refreshed design to accommodate a slimmer build, concealed status LED, and a pairing button at the front. The buds will also be redesigned to fit inside the new case.

3) In‑Ear Temperature Detection

Having an in‑ear temperature detection sensor will allow Apple to warn users when to remove AirPods from their ears. Apple already uses a similar technology on its watches. The AirPods 3 Pro’s redesign could accommodate this temperature sensor, but it remains to be seen if Apple manages to ship it.

4) On‑Device Live Translation

Live Translation is something Apple is actively working on and has already delivered to other Apple devices like iPhones, iPads, and Macs. Having such a feature inside the AirPods makes a lot of sense and could be really helpful. It could be part of an Apple Intelligence feature, but there aren’t many details on how it will be implemented exactly.

5) Heart-Rate Monitoring Sensor

Apple is reportedly considering adding a heart-rate sensor in the AirPods Pro 3’s case, according to Gurman. The Heart-rate monitoring sensor is something Apple has already experimented with in the Powerbeats Pro 2 that came out earlier this year, so the technology is ready.

When Will the Reported Apple AirPods Pro 3 Release?

When Mark Gurman covered the release of the Powerbeats Pro 2 in February 2025, he mentioned that an AirPods with a heart-rate sensor is “still many months away.” However, it has been a few months since Mark said that. Therefore, the Apple AirPods Pro 3 could still release sometime later this year.
