The Illuminate faction invades the Super Earth during the Heart of Democracy update in Helldivers 2. The update introduces powerful Illuminate units such as Overship and Leviathan. Among the newly introduced units, Stingrays remain a standout.

The Illuminate Stingrays (or Interlopers) are fast and agile jets that track the locations of Helldivers and rain projectiles from above. Although they appear only during a small portion of the screen, they pose a constant threat until you eliminate them.

The Stingray is an Illuminate air unit that constantly patrols the area by circling in the sky. Upon detecting a player, they strafe and fire powerful projectiles along a straight and fixed path. These attacks are telegraphed with visible indicators, highlighting where the Stingray projectiles will land.

Avoid staying in their line of sight, as it can deal massive damage or even instant death. They typically spawn at regular intervals, which means that you might need to deal with multiple active Stingrays if you can’t take them down quickly.

How To Defeat the Stingrays in Helldivers 2

Stingrays follow a telegraphed attack pattern, allowing you to easily predict their movements and attacking direction. Although they are extremely fast, they can be destroyed with a few well-placed shots. All you need to do is use medium armor-penetrating weapons and hit the jet by either tracking or timing your shots.

The Stingray usually lowers and briefly stops before performing the strafing run and launching their projectiles, which makes it the best time to make a move. This gives you a brief window to strike back with a few shots or track it. While this can be risky, you can easily destroy the Stingrays if you time it well.

If things go down, quickly get out of the telegraphed path to avoid being decimated. PLAS-101 Purifier, PLAS-1 Scorcher, R-36 Eruptor Rifle, MG-43 Machine Gun, MG-206 Heavy Machine Gun, FAF-14 Spear, and WASP Launcher are some of the ideal weapon choices to take down the Stingrays.
