Feel the need for an additional challenge? Here’s how you can unlock the Dimensional Portal in Monster Train 2.
Monster Train 2 is the sequel to Monster Train, a roguelike deck builder game. The sequel expands upon the original game and has new features. One of the most exciting updates is the addition of the Dimensional Portal. The Dimensional Portal is a new challenge run mode that offers a different experience than the normal mode.
How To Unlock the Dimensional Portal in Monster Train 2
The first requirement for unlocking the Dimensional Portal is to unlock the Dimensional Challenge. This challenge mode features a new type of gameplay by forcing you to specific decks with three active Mutators. The Dimensional Challenge is unlocked when you unlock two Pyre Hearts in-game.
There are 13 different Pyre Hearts in the game with different abilities and unlock requirements. However, you only need to unlock two to access the Dimensional Challenge.
These are the three easiest to unlock:
Heart of the Pact
Effect: After playing a card from Primary and Allied clan, draw +1 next turn.
To unlock this card you’ll need to win 9 battles with Trials enabled. Trials are optional modifiers you can activate to bonus coins before combat. The early runs of a run are usually easy even with a Trial active, so it won’t take long. If you fail the run, just try again until you unlock the Heart of the Pact.
Lifemother’s Pyre
Effect: Unlocks the option to copy cards at the Merchant of Steel, Magic, and Trinkets.
Lifemother’s Pyre unlocks after your Pyre Heart takes 475 damage. The fastest way to unlock is to start a quick battle and let enemies attack your Pyre Heart. You don’t need to try hard, this one will likely unlock passively after a few failed runs.
Wyngh’s Spirit
Effect: You can restore the front-friendly units on all floors to full health once per battle.
To unlock this Pyre Heart you need to move your units a total of 275 times. Any time a unit changes its place during a battle, it counts towards the total. If you play with the Banished clan, you can speed up the battle with the Advance spell card. This Pyre Heart can be unlocked easily after a few runs.
Unlocking any of these two Pyre Hearts will give you access to the Dimensional Portal. Monster Train 2 is also a day-one release on Xbox Game Pass for PC, console, and cloud devices.
