The Farmer Life in Fantasy Life i: The Girl Who Steals Time is one of the two Lives that are locked when the game begins. You gain access to the Farmer Life once you complete the ‘Visit the Elder Tree’ quest during Chapter 4 of the main storyline. However, this Life is significantly more complicated than any other in the game, with many working parts. This guide will unravel the complexity surrounding the Farmer Life and prepare you for the agricultural journey ahead.

How To Farm in Fantasy Life i The Girl Who Steals Time

To use the Farmer Life efficiently, you will require a combination of farming infrastructure, seeds, routine tasks, and the Cook Life. You can learn the basics of farming by speaking with Inaji, the Farmer Life Master, and begin the ‘From Farmers, With Love’ quest. Once the quest starts, begin leveling up your Farmer Life by harvesting the crops planted around the village. These can be spotted on the map by their carrot icons.

To harvest crops, equip the hoe tool and use standard attacks, charged attacks, and special attacks. Either press the X button / Left-click to Dig or the Y button / Left+Right-click to Dig Hard and begin harvesting the vegetables. Harvesting will consume your SP, and if you run out of SP, you will not be able to do anything. Normal attacks use less SP, and special attacks consume more SP. A crop is harvested when you reduce its health to zero.

When you find Boss Veggies on the farm, start harvesting by pressing the X button / F key. Damage the boss with normal and charged attacks while managing your SP. Use your Right Stick / Right-click + mouse movement to move around the boss from the angle of the Dig-Dig Indicator and raise the harvest meter. The red arrow indicator will turn blue when you are in the right spot; this is when you should attack the boss. Repeated hits will trigger combos and produce higher-quality veggies.

Constructing Farms at the Base Camp

To construct farms at the Base Camp, talk to Cooke in the Guild Office and select the “Farm” tab. Then, choose all the farms you want to construct. Initially, you will have the option to construct Carrot, Pumpkin, Potato, Radish, and Onion farms. We recommend constructing all the farms you can, as the cost is minimal and they will allow you to quickly level up the Farmer Life.

Buy seeds by speaking with Marco at the Guild Office. Find all available seeds in the “Consumables” section of the buying menu. Purchase the seeds according to the farms you have built.

Once you have bought the farms from Cooke, construct them in your Base Camp by entering Hagram Build Mode (LB/Q). Open the “Facilities” section and choose the farm you want to place, then confirm “Build Here.”

Planting Crops on a Farm

Once all the farms have been placed, step onto a farm and press the A button / F key to plant seeds. Water the seeds after planting them with the same button. The seed will soon grow into a Sprout, which needs to be watered again. If you don’t water the Sprout, it will wither after some time. After some time, the sprout will grow into the crop you planted, ready to be harvested!
