The handoff feature, which has been available on Apple devices for quite a long time, could soon be coming to Windows! On Apple devices, the Handoff feature is a useful tool built into an ecosystem that works across devices. It lets you continue ongoing tasks from apps on other devices. Apps like Reminders, Pages, Safari web browser, Mail app, and many more, support using Handoff. Here are all the details you need to know about the Handoff feature coming to Windows!
Microsoft, creator of the Windows operating system that millions use worldwide, held the Microsoft Build 2025 event. Here, many new technologies and advancements were showcased across various Microsoft products, including Copilot, Windows, Edge browser, and more. One of the new features revealed on stage showed off better interconnectivity between Android and Windows devices.
Handoff-like Feature Similar to Apple’s Handoff Showed Off During Microsoft’s Build 2025 Event
During a session termed “Create Seamless Cross-Device Experiences with Windows for your app”, Microsoft showed off the handy feature. Basically, while you use compatible apps on your phone, you can continue using them on your PC. A visual notification will be available on your Windows taskbar, present at the bottom.
Once the user hovers their cursor on it, an option stating “Continue where you left” is available. Upon clicking it, you’ll be greeted by the application that you were using before on your phone as we explained. The new feature will be great for enhancing the overall productivity of users having both Android and Windows 11 devices. This cross-device experience should be coming soon and upcoming insider builds will potentially test this.
