Every year at the WWDC event, Apple reveals a new version of its iOS operating system, and this year is going to be no different. Apple is expected to release the upcoming iOS 19 at WWDC 25, which is just a few days away now. However, you don’t have to wait any longer to learn what the upcoming iOS version is going to bring to the table. Thanks to the barrage of leaks and rumors online, we now have a good idea about the new change that Apple plans to usher in.

According to Mark Gurman, one of the biggest changes that iOS 19 is set to bring is a significant overhaul of the user interface. However, that’s not the only big change coming with the upcoming iOS version. In this article, we will discuss all the leaks and rumors of iOS 19 ahead of the WWDC 2025 event.

Everything We Know So Far About Apple iOS 19

iOS 19 is all set to receive one of the biggest overhauls since iOS 17. It will apparently be inspired by VisionOS, or at least that’s what reputed leakers like Mark Gurman and Jon Prosser believe. However, there are a lot more changes coming to the upcoming iOS release than just UI. Here are seven major changes expected in iOS 19:

1) UI Overhaul

The upcoming iOS update will bring significant changes to the user interface system-wide. Various elements will receive translucent or glass-like effects, which were first seen on VisionOS. Even menus, icon shapes, toggle buttons, and more will reportedly get new visual elements to be more in line with the rest of the user interface.

2) Version Naming Change

Mark Gurman believes the iOS and all other Apple operating systems will reportedly get a new versioning scheme to bring a unified naming system that is easier for everyone to understand and remember. This goes for both users and developers. According to Mark Gurman, iOS 19 will reportedly be renamed to iOS 26.

3) Better Siri with AI

Siri didn’t really get the uplift that it needed in the iOS 18 release. In fact, many users complained that Siri in iOS 18 failed to do tasks it could do in previous versions, which was quite bizarre. Apple is all set to give the full AI treatment it deserves, which should make it a lot more advanced than it is currently.

4) New Games App Will Replace Game Center

Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman mentioned that Apple will add a new Games app to iOS 19, which will reportedly replace the existing Game Center app. The new app will act like a one-stop shop for everything gaming, so it will reportedly include both Apple Arcade titles and traditional games from the App Store. It will receive achievements, leaderboards, and more content.

5) Updated Health and Messages Apps

The Health app is expected to get the AI treatment. It will deliver new features like an AI-based personal health coach, which will reportedly be a chatbot. Users can ask any fitness and health-related questions. The Messages app will reportedly receive a massive update to bring an updated RCS system with end-to-end encryption.

6) Smart Battery Management and Estimated Charging Time on Lock Screen

According to Mark Gurman, Apple will add an AI-based battery management system in iOS 19. It will be designed to deliver better insights into things like usage patterns, charging history, screen-on-time, and more. Also, you will find the estimated charging time on the lock screen when you connect your iPhone to a charger.

7) Easier eSIM Migration Support to Android

Apple will reportedly add a new eSIM migration tool, which will allow users to transfer their eSIM to an Android device. It should benefit users who plan to move to Android, or at least try temporarily.

iOS 19 Expected Release Date

Apple will officially reveal iOS 19 and other upcoming OS releases at the WWDC 2025 event. After the event, Apple should release the beta builds, which is a tradition for the Cupertino Giant. However, the stable release of iOS 19 should be sometime in September 2025. Apple tends to release the big updates in the month of September every year.
