Crustle has an ability that prevents any opposing Pokemon ex from damaging it. This has made it a compelling card to build a single Prize deck around. While in the past there have been similar cards like Mimikyu, Crustle has higher HP and a better attacking move. With the right support from other cards, a Crustle deck can be pretty solid in the Pokemon TCG meta.

Pokemon TCG Best Crustle Deck Guide Overview

Crustle is a Stage 2 Pokemon card that evolves from Dwebble. Its ability, Mysterious Rock Inn, prevents any damage done to it by opposing Pokemon ex, forcing these decks to either add other, less optimal Pokemon to deal with it or be unable to touch it. Its move, Superb Scissors, does 120 damage for a single Grass Energy and two Colorless Energy. However, despite that cost, it’s useful thanks to ignoring any damage-reducing effects on the opposing Active Pokemon.

The other Pokemon in this deck that act as secondary attackers are Okidogi and Ethan’s Sudowoodo, while Munkidori heals them of as much damage as it can from the Bench.

How To Play This Best Crustle Deck in Pokemon TCG Destined Rivals

Ideal Starting Hand

Getting a Dwebble, a Munkidori, an Okidogi, and a Budew is a decent hand to begin with. Attach tools like Bravery Charm and Luxurious Cape, though be wary of whom you attach the latter to. Getting cards like Hassel and Technical Machine: Devolution early on is not helpful.

Here’s how to use a Crustle deck:

  • Use Crustle in the Active Spot whenever the opponent has a Pokemon ex in theirs. This will force them to switch out or deal no damage while you get a free turn to set up and attack.
  • Okidogi and Ethan’s Sudowoodo are decent secondary attackers. Ethan’s Sudowoodo can duplicate an opponent’s move, while Okidogi becomes bulkier and hits harder after a Basic Darkness Energy is attached to it.
  • Munkidori will swap out some of the damage taken by your Pokemon and attach it to the opponent’s Pokemon, letting Crustle and the others stay on the field longer.
  • Attach tools like Bravery Charm, Luxurious Cape, and Hero’s Cape to make your Pokemon even bulkier.

Best Matchups

Any deck that relies on Pokemon ex that are weak to Grass-types will struggle against Crustle no matter what.

This includes Fighting-type decks with Mamoswine ex and Cynthia’s Garchomp ex, who have no way of dealing with Crustle by themselves.

Single Prize attackers are more than able to deal with Crustle directly, as the deck loses its main advantage. Especially Fire-type decks, like the new Ethan’s Typhlosion, which can act faster than Crustle decks.

Here are some things to keep in mind when using this deck.

  • Remember to use Boss’s Orders to quickly swap in a Pokemon ex with a high Retreat Cost. Even if your opponent has a way to deal with that, it’s a resource they have to use up.
  • Technical Machine: Devolution is a card that can help against evolved non-ex Pokemon.
