In the following extensive guide, we’ll explore how you can complete the Build a Bridge mission in The Alters.
In The Alters, you’ll have to race against the clock to gather resources and find a way off the planet before the sun rises and burns everything in its path. However, the sun isn’t your only threat. The planet’s surface is just as dangerous, with radiation and lava everywhere. However, during the very first act of the game, you’ll need to figure out a way to cross a river of lava by literally building a bridge.
However, it’s a massive undertaking that involves spending considerable in-game time and resources. So, in this guide, we’ll take a look at the steps you need to follow to complete the Build a Bridge mission in The Alters.
Steps To Complete Build a Bridge Mission in The Alters
The following are the steps you’ll need to adhere to if you want to complete this particular mission without too much difficulty.
- Step 1: Go out of the airlock and proceed left until you come across the lava river. From this point, turn right and move forward until you reach a blockade of rocks.
- Step 2: Retrieve the Vertara Drill crafting recipe by interacting with this rock blockade and then return to your base to craft it. At the same time, craft three or more Drill Cartridges.
- Step 3: Now return to the rock blockade and use the drill to break through it.
- Step 4: Keep exploring the planet and setting up Mining Outposts until you are able to reach a good Vantage Point.
- Step 5: Once you reach the Vantage Point, go back to base and talk with Jan Technician about what you saw. He will tell you that a Scientist can help you solve the issue.
- Step 6: If you haven’t already, create the Scientist Jan. If you already have this character, make sure to also build the Research Lab module.
- Step 7: Speak with Maxwell using the Communications Room to retrieve the incomplete research drafts for Bridge Anchor points.
- Step 8: Give these research drafts to Scientist Jan and then research the finished schematics. After that, you will need to craft four Bridge Anchors at the Workshop.
- Step 9: Once you have all four Bridge Anchors in your possession, return to the lava river and place two of the anchors on each side.
Sticking to these steps will help you to complete the Build a Bridge mission in The Alters. However, keep in mind that you’ll need to salvage a lot of materials before you can make the Bridge Anchors. So, it can be a time-consuming mission to get through. Still, since there are plenty of other quests and activities to complete in Act 1, you can easily keep yourself busy in the meantime.
