Saving Jan Miner in The Alters takes you through a series of morbid decisions. Let’s discover how you can save this Alter.

The quirky science fiction, The Alters, takes you on a surrealistic journey on a hostile planet where you are surrounded by your clones. Your clones, known as the Alters, share the outlook of the main character, Jan.
However, the personalities, temperaments, and aspirations of these Alters are completely different. Miner Jan is one such character.
Miner Jan in The Alters

Jan Miner Alter suffers from a strange psychological problem. He feels that he has previously lost one of his hands in an accident. Additionally, he is in pain.
At one point, Jan Miner will request that you give him drugs to deal with this pain. In a rather unfortunate turn of events, Jan Miner would eventually meet with an accident. If you do not take any steps, Jan Miner will inevitably lose his life in an accident, regardless of where he is assigned.
The Solution

- Help Jan Miner cut off his arm: Like many other decisions in this game, cutting off his arm as soon as the option becomes available is one morbid route you can take. However, make sure to have an Infirmary Module ready, so you can assign him to a bed for healing. Otherwise, he will succumb to the trauma of the injury and die.
- Giving Jan Miner the prosthetic arm or serum: As Jan Miner heals, Jan Scientist will provide the option to research a Prosthetic Arm. On the other hand, talking to Jan Technician provides the research to create a Serum that would regrow him a new arm. Both will solve the problem.
With the revival of his arm, Jan Miner becomes a workaholic, often working 12-hour shifts without Crunch Time being active. Speak with him and assign him to the Contemplation Room. Moreover, speak with him after he completes each session.
Keep sending Jan Miner to the Contemplation Room enough times to satiate his thirst for work, and eventually, he’ll get to a better mental state. As a result, he will not die from a drug overdose or accident, and you’ll gain his Lesson “Vulnerability” at the end of his storyline.
