Will Marvel Rivals introduce Jean Grey and her Phoenix form in Season 3? Here’s all you need to know about her possible appearance.
Jean Grey’s rumors in Marvel Rivals are not fresh. They have been around since dataminers found her in the game files, waiting to be released. She is associated with the powerful and primal Phoenix Force in Marvel Comics and 20th Century Fox X-Men movies. Could she now be coming to Marvel’s 6v6 hero-shooter? There have been a few hints at the hero we may get when Season 3 swings by, and if all is as it seems, it may very well be Phoenix.
Hints For Marvel Rivals Season 3 Point Toward Phoenix
Marvel Rivals started off with a background lore that sets up a tense narrative between Doctor Doom and his future variant of the same dimension, Doom 2099. They have since been fighting for control over Chronovium, a cosmic resource formed due to the timestream entanglement. Season 0 launched with this premise and a few maps with their respective lore. One of those maps was the Klyntar Convergence map.
As Venom had warned us through his dialogues in Season 0, Knull turns out to be a way bigger challenge to our heroes because he now appears to be the “big bad” of Season 3. This was evident from the final Gallery Card players obtained in Season 2.5 after finishing the Ultron Cerebro Database event.
In the Gallery Card “From the Ashes”, Adam Warlock gets alarmed by the emergence of Knull. After he reveals it to our heroes, everybody starts brainstorming how to defeat him; after all, he is a primal force of the universe. This is when Namor reveals that they will need to call one of the primal forces to their aid to defeat the other.
The Phoenix Force is one of the primal forces of the universe that can help them in this mission. Another hint is the fact that we got the new Phoenix Knight costume for Moon Knight. Its theme is “Phoenix Force”, which points towards the potential arrival of Jean Grey.
Many heroes in the comics have served as hosts for the Phoenix Force, including the Phoenix Five. However, the force itself has a special connection to the Grey family and Jean in general. This makes her the prime candidate to take on Knull.
Unfortunately, there are no official confirmations from the developers, but all the signs are pointing toward her arrival. Even if not in Season 3, she might show up in Season 3.5 because it will build on the same story. And now that the seasons in Marvel Rivals will only be two months long instead of three, we won’t have to wait long to see Jean on the roster.
