PEAK might look like an easy game on paper. Many might think that in the game, all they have to do is climb and survive to achieve success. However, this illusion breaks quite early when players start their playthrough. This simple-looking climbing game holds many complicated mechanics underneath, such as inventory weight management, environmental hazards, and the stamina system, and these aspects make PEAK hard to master.

So, to make your journey a bit more convenient, here are five tips and tricks for beginners in PEAK.

5 Best Tips and Tricks for Beginners in PEAK

Your primary goal in PEAK is, of course, climbing various mountains and escaping the different terrains. However, there are a lot of obstacles that come in the way. Learning about the game’s core mechanics and other minor objectives is a great way to start your playthrough, but there’s no harm in looking for a few tips to make your adventure a bit more enjoyable. In this article, we have given you some tips and tricks that will help you understand the world of PEAK better.

5. Always Carry Enough Food

PEAK is a survival game as well as a climbing game. So, the game has various mechanics that make your experience more immersive, and one of them is hunger. In the game, you will have a hunger bar that is connected to the stamina bar. If the former depletes, it will drain the latter as well, and without stamina, you will be stuck in the biome you are in. So, we highly recommend always carrying an appropriate amount of food while you scale the mountains in PEAK. Consumables such as coconuts can be found throughout the island and can be a great way to subdue your hunger.

4. Search Every Luggage You See

In PEAK, your primary source of items will be the various luggage throughout the island. They will contain a variety of things, ranging from bandages to energy drinks and rope aids. So, we highly advise that whenever you come across luggage during your playthrough, you search it thoroughly. By doing so, you might find some crucial items that can help your survival and increase your chances of completing the level you are on.

3. Do Not Stuff Too Many Items in Your Backpack

Even though we said to check every piece of luggage and carry enough food to survive, stuffing everything you find in your backpack in PEAK is not the way to go. Yes, it serves as your inventory, where you can store your food, equipment, and other resources, and even though your first instinct might be to put everything you find inside it, we advise against it. The more items you carry, the heavier your backpack will become, and in turn, it will lower your stamina bar. So, try to carry only the necessary items that are key to your survival.

2. Make a Plan Before Climbing

Strategy is an important part of PEAK. Yes, your primary objective in this way is climbing, but you also must do it with efficiency. Running headfirst towards a mountain won’t do you any favors. You might still reach the peak the hard way, but it will be full of trouble and inconvenience.

So, before you start your expedition alone or with friends, make a plan. Decide which route you want to take, and look for the easiest way to the top of the mountain. Also, note factors such as ledges for resting, necessary items for healing and stamina, and a light backpack.

1. Stamina Management is Key

Stamina is everything in PEAK. It is needed for crucial tasks and movement, such as climbing, jumping, running, etc. Furthermore, PEAK is a survival game, so any movement can deplete your stamina bar rather quickly, and the absence of it can be fatal. Because of that, Stamina Management is arguably the most important factor in the game. This also ties into our previous tip. So, try to plan a route with resting places so you can replenish your stamina, and try to avoid doing any flashy moves that might drain your stamina for no reason.
