2025 has been a stellar year for video games, and we’ve seemingly had hit after hit month after month. The year started off strong with the likes of Dynasty Warriors Origins, Split Fiction, and Avowed, slowly closing in on the summer with Kingdom Come Deliverance and Clair Obscur Expedition 33.

People’s GOTY candidates keep changing every single month, and that’s a testament to how good the year has been. Still, we’re only at the halfway point, and we have plenty more to look forward to as the second half of 2025 commences. There are tons of heavy hitters coming our way in the next few months, and we’ve listed out 5 of the major releases you can look forward to in 2025’s second half.

Release Date: August 22, 2025

After Dying Light 2’s polarizing reception, Techland took it upon themselves to bring the series back to its roots. Dying Light: The Beast is this very attempt, and we’re once again in the parkour shoes of Kyle Crane.

Suffering at the hands of the Baron for years, Crane has now escaped and seeks vengeance. This Crane may feel familiar, but he now hides a beast within courtesy of his suppressed infection. There’s no staying human with this entry of the series, it’s all about unleashing the beast.

2) Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater

Release Date: August 28, 2025

Metal Gear Solid 3 is one of the greatest games of all time, and perhaps Kojima’s magnum opus. If you’ve been on the internet long enough, you’ve seen clips of Naked Snake ascending the never-ending ladder. As he does so, Cynthia Harrell’s iconic Snake Eater blasts through the speakers. Every moment of this game is iconic.

Now, with Kojima no longer on the helm, Konami is remaking the iconic entry. Regardless of how it turns out, this is one we can’t wait to experience once again – because, after all, we’re still in a dream, Snake Eater.

3) Ghost of Yotei

Release Date: October 2, 2025

After a decade-plus of asking for an Assassin’s Creed in Japan, we finally got the game we wanted – but it wasn’t Assassin’s Creed, and it wasn’t from Ubisoft. Ghost of Tsushima was lightning in a bottle, and the AC Japan we had been waiting for. Scenic visuals ripped straight from a painting, complemented by a stellar samurai-style combat system and emotional story, made Jin’s tale a joy to experience.

Now, Jin has been put to rest, and we continue the Ghost saga in the footsteps of Atsu. Ghost of Yotei promises to be a more personal story with Atsu seeking vengeance on her family’s murderers. We can’t wait to experience this one later in October.

4) Borderlands 4

Release Date: September 12, 2025

Borderlands 3 is one of the best looter shooters of all time. The game had tons of weapon variety, allowing you to experiment with different builds and find the one for you. While we would like to say that the game’s story complemented the gameplay, that was far from the case. The story was riddled with overdone crappy humor, something the devs have acknowledged, and have taken into account for Borderlands 4.

Borderlands 4 promises to be a return to form, toning down the humor to bring it more in line with the other entries. The game is also set to bring in a ton of new weapons and abilities, so this is one we’ll be sinking hours into.

5) Silent Hill f

Release Date: September 25, 2025

It is an understatement to say that the Silent Hill franchise was in a bit of a rut for well over a decade. The franchise was churning out mediocrity in the early 2000s, forcing the franchise to go on a hiatus. With the Silent Hill 2 remake, the series is back in top shape and is now gearing up for its next installment with Silent Hill f.

The Silent Hill series has always taken pride in its Japanese horror tropes, and is now going full circle by bringing the series back to Japan. Silent Hill f throws you into the shoes of Shimizu Hinako as she experiences horrors take over her rural town of Ebisugaoka. This is as Silent Hill as Silent Hill gets, and we can’t wait.
