Compared to Monster Hunter Wilds’ Title Update 1, TU2 is a major improvement, not only in terms of content but also in difficulty. This is perfectly exemplified by Tempered Seregios, who is arguably the most challenging monster in the current version of MH Wilds. Much like other Tempered Monsters, Seregios is quite aggressive and relentless with its attacks.

And while it doesn’t use any form of elemental ailments to deal passive damage, it does have access to rather powerful attacks that can practically one-shot Hunters. And if that’s not all, Tempered Seregios is also incredibly tanky and has resistance to almost all major elemental debuffs, save for Thunder.

However, much like any other monster in MH Wilds, defeating Tempered Seregios becomes quite easy once you know how to play to its weaknesses. Here’s a comprehensive guide on how to easily defeat the Tempered Seregios in Monster Hunter Wilds.

Overview of Tempered Seregios in Monster Hunter Wilds

Tempered Seregios, despite its increased aggression and resistance, is still the same Flying Wyvern as its regular counterpart. The difference between regular and Tempered Seregios purely comes down to just stats and agility. Tempered Seregios, unlike its regular counterpart, can easily break away from staggers. Even when stunned using a Flash Pod, the monster gets back up rather fast.

This is precisely what makes the Tempered variant significantly more challenging. The 5-star Strength variant on the monster can also negate the stagger from a mount. Suffice it to say, taking down Seregios isn’t easy and requires you to think a bit out of the box.

However, you can basically overpower the monster with two things: Power Clash and offset. Due to how fast Seregios can chain its combos, it’s very susceptible to offset attacks, and that’s precisely what we’re going to use to “cheese” the monster. Additionally, Lightning (Bolt) imbued weapons work incredibly well against Seregios, often leaving it exhausted frequently.

That said, due to how aggressive the monster becomes once it’s enraged, surviving its attacks can be quite a challenge. Thankfully, Tempered Seregios doesn’t have as much health as Tempered Lagiacrus.

And as such, it’s easier to take down if you play to its weaknesses and know how to survive its most powerful combos.

Weaknesses of Tempered Seregios

Similar to regular Seregios, the Tempered variant is weak to Iceblight and Thunderblight. However, in practice, we found that Thunderblight works the best against Tempered Seregios, compared to Ice. While you can still use Ice weapons, it won’t be nearly as efficient as Thunder. The only edge Ice has over Thunderblight is its ability to slow down Seregios, temporarily.

However, with Thunder, you can easily exhaust the monster, making it much easier to deal damage to it. Furthermore, once exhausted, Seregios cannot inflict Bleed. Apart from that, Tempered Seregios is also weak to Poison, Blast, and also, Sleep. It can also be stunned out of its flying combos with a Flash Pod.

Tips To Easily Defeat Tempered Seregios in MH Wilds

Here are some tips to help you easily defeat the Tempered Seregios in Monster Hunter Wilds:

  • Tempered Seregios has roughly the same movesets as its regular counterpart. However, there are a few differences, such as the ability of the Tempered variant to use its stomp combo more frequently and also inflict bleed with its grab. Furthermore, Tempered Seregios is highly resistant to Stun, which makes it quite difficult to hit, unless you’ve exhausted the monster.
  • For the Tempered variant, we highly recommend using a weapon with an offset attack. The Great Sword or the Hammer are the best choices here. However, Switch Axe and even Heavy Bowgun can also work quite well against Seregios. You essentially want to create opportunities for dishing out damage with offset attacks.
  • During the monster’s stomp attacks, dodge the first stomp, and as soon as you recover from the roll animation, charge your offset attack. If you’re using Hammer, the uppercut into offset combo is incredibly useful here. After an offset, you get a few seconds to hit the monster, after which it will once again start using its stomp combos.
  • Another thing to note is that you can get a free stagger on Seregios if you hit its legs with a Focus Strike, right after it completes a stomp combo. After a stomp combo, Seregios gets a temporary wound on its legs. Additionally, tenderizing this wound is also a great way to inflict Exhaust and weaken the tempered wounds on the monster.

Additional Notes

While Dragonblight isn’t officially a weakness of Seregios, it still works quite well against the monster. We tested out both Gore Magala and Zoh Shia weapons against Tempered Seregios, and outside of the bonus damage not being that great, Dragonblight does dish out pretty good damage to the monster. However, if you’re looking for an alternative to Dragonblight, you can go for Blast.
