The Stegosaurus is one of the new dinosaur pets in Grow a Garden. The developers have added several dinosaur and Jurassic Park-themed items, seeds, and pets to the game with the Prehistoric Update on July 5, 2025. Like other pets, each dinosaur has different traits, and some can drastically boost separate aspects of your garden.

Traits

Pets are not just your companions in Grow a Garden. They actively affect your garden when equipped and can give one or more boosts. The Stegosaurus is a legendary-tier pet. Equipping it gives players a chance to double their harvested crops. There is a bonus for Prehistoric crops as well.

Here is a breakdown of Stegosaurus’ pet traits:

Prehistoric Doubling: There is an 8% that your harvest will duplicate. If this effect procs, you will get double the harvested fruit while collecting it from the plant.
Prehistoric Harvester: When you harvest Prehistoric Crops, the chance to duplicate harvest gets boosted by +5% (13% total).

The doubling and harvester chances will improve slightly as the Stegosaurus ages in-game. The pet is quite handy if you have an abundance of Prehistoric Plants in your garden because of the boosted doubling chance. Here is a list of Prehistoric Plants that will be affected by the pet:

How To Get the Stegosaurus Pet in Grow a Garden

All dinosaur pets added in the Prehistoric Update can be obtained by hatching the Dinosaur Eggs. There is a 28% chance of getting the Stegosaurus pet by hatching a Dinosaurus Egg. There are two ways you can get the egg:

As a reward for completing the Dino Quest. The quest tracker can be accessed at the center of the map.
By submitting other pets to the DNA Converter. Just talk to Graham while holding a pet, and tell him to take it. Wait an hour for the DNA Converter to work. In the end, you can collect a Dinosaur Egg. Players can sometimes get a Dinosaur instead of the egg as well.
