Players can now obtain Spinosaurus as pets in Grow Garden with the Pet Mutation Update. It expands upon the ongoing Prehistoric Event, adding several new pets, seeds, and more. You can obtain the dinosaur pet from the new egg in the game.

Grow a Garden Pet Guide: Spinosaurus Trait Explained
Dinosaurs are the brand-new class of pets in Grow a Garden. Added during the Prehistoric Event, the models are reminiscent of the models from the popular Jurassic Park. The Spinosaurus is part of the new batch of dinosaur pets and is the most useful. It’s essentially an upgrade over the T-Rex pet and is more efficient in spreading mutations around your garden. Here is a proper breakdown of the Spinosaurus pet trait:
- Food Chain: The pet will select three random mutations from your garden every 20 minutes. This phase of the action is called “devouring.” The dinosaur will then roar and spread the mutations to a random plant.
- As the pet grows old, the trait triggers more often and affects more mutations.
Players will find that this is a much more useful trait than the T-Rex, as the Spinosaurus does not remove any trait. It just duplicates them and spreads the set to another plant. If you favor one of the fruits in your garden, it will have a higher chance of getting the mutations.
How To Get the Spinosaurus Pet in Grow a Garden
The Pet Mutation Update added the new Primal Egg to Grow a Garden. This is the only way you can currently get the pet without resorting to trading with other players. There is a 0.5% chance of getting the Spinosaurus while hatching a Primal Egg. Considering how low the chance is, you will probably need to hatch multiple eggs.
You can obtain Primal Eggs through two separate ways:
- You can get Primal Eggs from the DNA Machine at the center of the map during the Prehistoric Event. You will have to upgrade the DNA Machine by submitting Primal Plants to the Raptor NPC to unlock the ability to get Primal Eggs.
- You can craft Primal Eggs at the Prehistoric Event’s crafting table after upgrading the DNA Machine to level 4. It will take 30 minutes to craft after you have submitted these ingredients:
- 1 Dinosaur Egg
- Bone Blossom
- 5.5 million Sheckles
