If your Diablo 4 build focuses on fire-based damage, then the Smoldering Ember Infusion is an absolute winner.
Diablo 4 has a ton of spells, each of which caters to different playstyles. The Catalyst spells are your main means of offense in the game and allow you to dish out damage in creative ways. While they are undeniably powerful, they never quite reach their full potential on their own. To push them to the next level, you need the Infusion spells.
Diablo 4 Season 9 has added a ton of Infusion spells, and if your build focuses on fire-based damage, then the Smoldering Ember is the perfect choice. The Smoldering Ember infuses and boosts your Catalyst spells with Fire and/or Burning damage. This allows you to destroy enemy structures, with a 10% chance to ignite the ground beneath enemies. Should you succeed, that is 74,800 Burning damage over five seconds. The Infusion also enhances your Fire Damage Bonus to match that of your highest Damage Type Bonus.
There’s a ton of damage-based potential with the Smoldering Ember Infusion. If you feel you’re lacking in the damage department, very few Infusions come close to this one.

You get the Smoldering Ember Infusion spell by completing the To Walk Where the Spirits Tread quest in Diablo 4. This quest is part of the seasonal storyline for Season 9. The quest begins when you talk to Bryona, who then tells you of rituals you need to perform. You’ll then have to go to the Rite of Sacrifice and interact with it, which will spawn enemies you need to kill.
After the Rite of Sacrifice, the Rite of Resolve is next, which has the same loop as the first. Once done, you have to go to the Oaken Cavern, which will throw another mob of enemies at you. Clearing the mob will spawn the Blinding Annihilator, which you need to beat to progress. Head back to Bryona after beating it to complete the quest and unlock the Smoldering Ember.
