Learn how to find and follow players with powerful Legacies and Sparks in Umamusume: Pretty Derby to start Career Mode with an advantage.

The Career Mode of Umamusume: Pretty Derby can present a daunting challenge for new players, especially when it comes to winning the URA Finale. However, the game allows players to borrow a Legacy uma as well as a Support Card from a “friend” at the beginning of the career. This feature can provide tremendous assistance when it comes to training strong umas, as Legacy umas can pass down their Sparks through inheritance.
To understand the impact of good Sparks, imagine having two Legacies (parents) with 3-star Speed Sparks. They will give your trainee a boost of 42 (21×2) Speed at the start of the career.
Now, if both the parents’ Legacies (trainee’s grandparents) also had 3-star Speed Sparks, your trainee will start her career with 126 (21×6) additional Speed. The best way to harness this advantage is to borrow a powerful Legacy from the best players in the game, and this guide will show you how to do so.
Umamusume Pretty Derby: Legacy Sparks Borrowing Guide

Head to the Race menu and open Team Trials. Click on the “i” icon above the “Class Rewards” button. Then, select the “Class 1” or “All” tab to find the best players on the server. Open their profile and inspect their star uma’s inspirations.
In all likelihood, you will find exceptional Sparks among the top players’ star umas, which can be employed in your own career by following them. You can’t follow a player if they have already reached their follower limit. This is indicated by their “Follow” button being greyed out. You can also use this method to gain inspiration for powerful character builds.
How To Look For Specific Legacy Sparks
The easiest way to find the Sparks you are looking for is to search for them on community forums. Since having your veteran uma used in someone else’s career awards you with Friendship Points, players advertise their star uma alongside their Sparks, Support Card, and trainer IDs.
You can find the Global Reddit thread for listing friend IDs here. Simply search “Sprint,” “Speed,” or whichever Spark you’re looking for to find the ID of someone who has listed their veteran uma.
Alternatively, you can head to the Umamusume: Pretty Derby Discord here. After passing a basic verification test, you can select the “friend-ids” channel in the “EN Umamusume Game” category. As before, search the channel for the Spark you are looking for. You can also list your trainer ID along with the relevant information if you have some powerful Sparks of your own to share.
