The Scornful Light in Diablo 4 is a Horadric Jewel that makes you deal 20% more Elemental damage, but at the cost of 10% extra damage taken.
Diablo 4 has a ton of spells, and all of them serve to enhance your build in one way or another. While this may seem plenty enough, the game goes a step beyond by letting you customize these spells even further with the new Horadric Jewels.
Horadric Jewels are items that modify the effects and performance of your spells in the game. The Scornful Light is one such Horadric Jewel, and is perfect for those who love dishing out elemental damage.
The Scornful Light is a Horadric Jewel that makes you deal 20% more Elemental damage. As cool as that sounds, it comes with the downside of making you take 10% more Elemental damage, too. While the downside may seem too scathing, the 20% increase in damage dished out is often the difference between a mob cleared and a mob fled.

How To Get Scornful Light in Diablo 4 Season 9
You get the Scornful Light by crafting it using 3000x Horadric Phials, 15000 Emerald Fragments, 15000 Skull Fragments, and 15000 Ruby Fragments at the Horadric Lapidary. Before you can do that, however, you need to unlock its recipe first. The steps below should help with that:
- Use a Nightmare Sigil and enter a Nightmare Dungeon.
- Navigate the dungeon with a Horadric Wayfinder and use it to locate a Horadric Strongroom. Take note that these dungeons have to be at a difficulty of Torment I or higher.
- Clear out the strongroom and acquire as much Attunement as you can within the time limit.
- Once the timer runs out, a boss will spawn. Beat this boss to complete the Horadric Strongroom. This will drop a loot cache with a Horadric Tome inside. The tome will give you a random recipe, so you may have to run the strongrooms a few times to get the recipe for the Scornful Light.
