Donkey Kong Bananza features many significant differences compared to previous DK titles. There are multiple new modes and features available this time around, which make the game extremely unique compared to previous Donkey Kong games. Banandium Gems are one such addition. The first official look we got of the game was during the Donkey Kong Bananza Direct, which was held on June 18, 2025. With over 15 minutes of gameplay showcase, this Direct revealed multiple important things about the game, including the fact that this time, there will be a new main collectible, which will be Banandium Gems.

These are golden bananas that you will find throughout the map. However, unlike most platformers, you cannot just interact with these gems to collect them. You need to break them open to collect the diamonds inside these golden bananas.

Where Can You Find Banandium Gems in Donkey Kong Bananza?

These can be found at various locations and can even be hidden behind walls, beneath the ground, inside rocks, and more. Apart from exploration and destruction, you can also get your hands on these Banandium Gems as rewards after completing certain quests. These include obstacle courses, timed battles, and many more modes.

The more gems you have in your inventory, the more you will be able to upgrade your abilities. These gems will get you Skill Points in the game, which will obviously come in handy for upgrades and improvements. Since there are multiple layers present below the ground as well, one thing that was made clear during the Direct was that you can get a lot of collectibles and rewards by simply destroying the environment. So use Donkey Kong’s stomping and punching abilities and look for more Banandium Gems.

If you do not have many gems in your inventory, you can also choose to trade Banandium Chips in return for gems at the Chip Exchange. The entire map of Donkey Kong Bananza will have multiple hidden chests as well. These chests will have maps inside them that can help you find more Banandium Gems.
