Donkey Kong Bananza is finally out now. But is it available to play on PS5 and Xbox Series X/S? Let’s explore.

Donkey Kong Bananza is finally available to play on Nintendo Switch 2. The game is one of the most hyped Nintendo titles of this year. Unfortunately, it is a Nintendo-exclusive title, meaning it is only available on Nintendo Switch 2. So, if you own a PS5 or an Xbox Series X/S, you will not be able to enjoy it. To make things worse, unlike many exclusive titles that later get a port for other platforms, it is almost confirmed that this will not be the case for DKB.

Donkey Kong Bananza is Switch 2 Exclusive, But You Can Still Play It on Original Switch

While most exclusive titles from Sony and Xbox get a port for other platforms these days, unfortunately, Nintendo does not port its games to other platforms. Even games from the GameCube era are still not available on PC, PS5, Xbox Series X/S. While these games can be played using emulators, natively, they are not available on any other platforms.
Even though DKB is a Switch 2 exclusive, there is still a way to play it on the original Nintendo Switch. If you have a friend who owns a Nintendo Switch 2, you can play the game using the GameShare feature. While the game will not natively run on your console, you can think of it as cloud gaming. And obviously, you can play the game in co-op mode as well, using the GameShare feature only.
DKB supports a two-player co-op mode. Fortunately, you can play both couch co-op and online co-op. When in co-op mode, one of you will play as Donkey Kong while the other player will have to step into the shoes of Pauline. The co-op mode for Bananza was first revealed during the DKB Direct, which aired on June 18, 2025.
