With the recent release of Donkey Kong Bananza, many players have been interested in exploring the multiplayer possibilities in the game.
Donkey Kong Bananza just recently released for the Nintendo Switch 2 on July 17, 2025. The game features an epic adventure through the underground world, as Donkey Kong makes new friends and foes. Many players have been wondering if the newest Donkey Kong title supports multiplayer in any capacity.
You will be happy to know that the game does have multiplayer features, but it doesn’t have all of them. However, both players will not be having an equal experience.

Does Donkey Kong Bananza Have Multiplayer?
Yes, the game does have a mode where two players can play together. However, only one player can control Donkey Kong, while the other plays as Odd Rock or Pauline (depending on the story progress). This essentially means that you cannot battle against another player.
So, you will want to make your decision carefully on who gets to be Donkey Kong. This is because the playing style between Pauline or Odd Rock and Donkey Kong is quite different.

How To Play Multiplayer in Donkey Kong Bananza
You have three modes of playing with two people. Firstly, you could play on the same console. Alternatively, if you have multiple consoles on the same network, you can play multiplayer through the GameShare mechanic.
(Note: You must both have Donkey Kong Bananza updated to the latest version and have rescued Odd Rock to enable this mode.)
Lastly, you can also play with friends across the globe. This is also done similarly through the GameShare feature. You will be able to start this session during regular gameplay by opening the menu by pressing + and initiating GameShare.
