Take a quick peek into what Sloclap has been working on to improve the ranking and matchmaking in Rematch.

Rematch has been available for over a month, with new players joining every day. Sloclap has made it a goal of theirs to refine the game with timely updates and tweaks. One of the major concerns players have is about the ranking and matchmaking aspect of the game. Sloclap has finally addressed these issues and what they have been working to fix.
In this article, we will look at the latest updates about ranking and matchmaking in Rematch.
Ranking and Matchmaking in Rematch

Ranked Queues
Many players have been requesting the addition of rank matches for 3VS3 and 4VS4 queues. Sloclap has taken note of this, but does not intend to add the modes right away. A lot of extra work would be needed, including backend chores, UI/UX updates, player profile updates, as well as end-of-match screens, among others.
This would also impact ranking queues as the player base would be divided between the three modes, increasing the wait time. Sloclap intends to shortly begin work and possibly release a new mode within a couple of months.
Ranking System
Sloclap, at the moment, uses ‘Openskill’ to calculate a player’s skill ranking. With the help of this, there is more balance in games in terms of skill levels between the two teams. In contrast to match-making, ranking systems use a different logic. Not only does ranking represent your skills, but it also influences the progression system.
Moreover, the ranking system has been adjusted when players from different ranks and levels team up. Rematch has a unique approach to demotions where they prevent you from ranking down a whole league, for instance, from gold to silver. There are two reasons for this. One is rerouting the ranking system to help adjust who the player will have matches against next, and the other is the whole demotivating prospect.
Minor tweaks will be implemented in future builds and updates, which will be updated in a future post.
Matchmaking
Sloclap also addressed the issues being faced in matchmaking queues. The wait time would stretch to a great extent, unfortunately, prompting the matchmaking system to loosen the restrictions. This would, in turn, have higher-skilled players pair up with lower-skilled players. During such instances, due to the difference in skill level, expectations between the team would differ, increasing compatibility issues between the teammates.
Sloclap is working hard at fixing this, to try and incorporate more balanced matches without majorly impacting the queue.
