Donkey Kong and Pauline will encounter many bosses on their adventure in Donkey Kong Bananza, one of which is Grumpy Kong.

There is no shortage of bosses to face in Donkey Kong Bananza. The titular character and Pauline will have to face many foes in their quest to stop Void Kong (and company). One such boss is Grumpy Kong.
He will be the second boss you face in the main story, after Peakabruiser. Here is everything you should know to take down this foe.
How To Beat Grumpy Kong in Donkey Kong Bananza

This is a simple boss, due to being encountered early on. The key to defeating this boss lies in its multiple stacks or layers. You will have to break the lower levels of the boss first, so that you can beat up Grumpy Kong himself.
The simplest way to do so is by entering the Kong Bananza transformation (you can cycle through transformations by pressing left or right on the D-pad) by pressing L+R. In this mode, you will easily be able to break the bottom two layers of the boss. However, do note that you should jump away before the final layer crashes down on you.

Once that is done, you can jump up to the top of the construct, which houses Grumpy Kong. Start a barrage of punches until Grumpy reaches half health. At this point, you should jump off for a second, as he will perform a spinning attack. However, this will leave the boss vulnerable to another flurry of punches.
This final combo should hopefully defeat the boss, or take out a major chunk of his health, letting you take it down easily.
Tips and Tricks for Defeating Grumpy Kong in Donkey Kong Bananza
Here are some things you should note for this boss fight:
- Using charged punches is ill-advised, as even if it does more damage, it leaves you vulnerable in one position for longer. It is even more redundant during the Kong Bananza transformation as you will break everything in a few normal punches.
- Keep an ear out for Pauline. She will warn you when a big attack might be headed your way.
- Lastly, taking out his club is also a valid strategy, as it limits Grumpy Kong’s attacking options. However, if you follow the above strategy properly, chances are the boss will not be able to use the club much.
