King K. Rool’s appearance in Donkey Kong Bananza is a pleasant surprise for many gamers. But is he playable? Let’s find out.
Nintendo’s new Donkey Kong Bananza is full of surprises and returning characters. From the beginning of the game, we have seen many of the reappearance of many fan favorite individuals from the franchise, such as Pauline, the other Kongs, Kremlings, and Donkey Kong’s iconic nemesis, King K. Rool.
However, since the game focuses on a new group of antagonists named the Void Company, many are wondering if King K. Rool has an active role in the game or is playable or not. In short, yes, he does have an important role for a short duration; however, he is not a playable character in the game.
King K. Rool is Not a Playable Character in Donkey Kong Bananza
King K. Rool, the long-running antagonist of the franchise, makes his triumphant return in Donkey Kong Bananza. Once you defeat the leader of the Void Company, named Void Kong, the iconic villain will make its reappearance after being freed from his captivity thanks to Pauline’s music. King K. Rool will then defeat Void Kong in a struggle for the Bandandium Root. However, from the moment he arrives, the developers make it quite clear that he is not a playable character in the game.
After this event, King K. Rool takes the place of the main antagonist in Donkey Kong Bananza, and our protagonists must stop him from obtaining and using the Banandium Root for his own benefit. To do that, you must follow the villain to the core of the earth while taking on various challenges. The moment you catch up to him, the crocodile monster absorbs the Banandim Root and becomes the final boss of the game.
King K. Rool’s Role is Short but Meaningful
This boss fight is a long one with various stages. The most notable one is the second phase, which takes place in the middle of the city. There, you as Donkey Kong with your sidekick Pauline must take on and defeat the newly transformed K. Rool, King of Rot. The introduction and the end of King K. Rool in Donkey Kong Bananza is a short one. And the fact that players cannot play as the character will surely upset a few. However, if you are a veteran and a fan of the old Nintendo games, you will surely find some joy in the appearance of King K. Rool in Donkey Kong Bananza.
