There’s a new Hydreigon ex in the White Flare expansion. The appealing aspect of this card is its ability Greedy Eater, which lets it take another Prize card if it KO’s one of the opponent’s Basic Pokemon.
However, there is a major drawback holding this card back, which is its attack Dark Bite. Not only is its 200 base power not strong enough to KO common Basic Pokemon ex like Fezandipiti ex, but it has a massive Energy cost of three Basic Darkness Energy and two Colorless Energy. As such, only skilled players will be able to overcome the drawback of its attack and get the most out of its ability.

The plan is to overcome Hydreigon ex’s damage output and Energy cost with several cards like Janine’s Secret Art, Binding Mochi, and Ignition Energy. Janine’s Secret Art helps attach a Basic Darkness Energy while poisoning Hydreigon ex. However, that Poison will let Binding Mochi work when attached to the card and give its move Dark Bite a 40 damage boost.
