After recruiting Esquie, Expedition 33 learns that he can’t swim with passengers without a special rock. The party then departs for the Stone Wave Cliffs to find his rock to help their cause and reach the Paintress. After finding four of the Lost Gestrals, Sastro will teach you the Paint Break ability. On the other side, at the Stone Wave Cliffs, you can spot the Chromatic Gault, and it will drop the Tainted Pictos as a reward.

Alternatively, if you missed this item, you can find it on one of the Axon Islands. Alicia resides on the Reacher, and you can trade with the local merchant, Eragol. This Gestral will not trade without a fight, and you must pick your strongest member to deal with them. After winning, you can buy the Tainted Pictos for 49,391 Chroma.
