Type Soul just received another update, and with it, we got introduced to two new Soul Vows, offering unique trade-offs for different playstyles. One of the most interesting is the Vow of Sway, which rewards players with a powerful countermove that can be lethal in the hands of players who love to parry and have mastered the dodging mechanics.

In this guide, we will tell you how to unlock it and whether it’s worth using compared to other Soul Vows. Also, make sure to join the official Type Soul Discord and Trello to stay connected with the community.

What Is the Vow of Sway in Type Soul?

The Vow of Sway is a defensive-focused Soul Vow that activates when you parry or perfectly dodge attacks. Each successful parry or dodge fills up a special bar. Once the bar is full, the next time you get guard-broken, a cutscene triggers where your character kicks the enemy away instead of simply losing posture. This move has a 120-second cooldown before it can be used again.

Note: The only restriction is that it cannot be equipped alongside Ancient Vasto, which limits its synergy with certain builds.

How To Get the Vow of Sway

To obtain the Vow of Sway, you need to challenge the Bamboo Hat Man in the third layer of Hell. Here’s the process:

  • Bring him a Stream of Reiatsu to initiate the fight.
  • Defeat him in battle to earn a random Soul Vow.

Since rewards are randomized, you may need multiple attempts to get the Vow of Sway.

Some players also report obtaining Vows from Soul Wars and ranked matches, though this method is less reliable.

Is the Vow of Sway good?

The Vow of Sway is best suited for players who rely heavily on parries and perfect dodges. It acts as a safety net, letting you turn a guard break into a counterattack and regain momentum in battle. However, its long 120-second cooldown means it’s not always available when you need it most.

If you prefer a more consistent option, the Vow of Sacrifice may be better, as it provides a spirit companion with only an 8-second cooldown. Still, for skilled dodgers, the Vow of Sway can be a powerful defensive tool.

The Vow of Sway is a niche but useful Soul Vow in Type Soul, rewarding skilled defensive play. If you’re confident in your dodging ability, it’s worth chasing, but if you want more frequent utility, consider alternatives.
