The devs of Type Soul added a new item called the Soul Gem on August 28, 2025. While it was not a very big update, the new overpowered items attracted significant attention with tens of thousands of players flocking to the game. The Soul Gem is one of the new items that brings a much sought-after mechanic to the game. Players can use it to swap their True Mode to another element for free.

Type Soul True Mode Guide: Soul Gem
What Does It Do
Type Soul players can swap out their True Modes using the Soul Gem item from the inventory. True Mode for your character type is the highest form that you can achieve in-game as of the Hell Update. To get it, players have to essentially finish all of the content currently in Type Soul. Naturally, the True Mode is tied to your element, and trying out other elements requires you to go through all of the Hell Rings and the Hell Maze again.
If you use the Soul Gem after attaining your True Mode, you can basically swap to a different element for free. Which means you do not have to defeat all of the Hell bosses again. The in-game description of the item reads as follows:
“Converts your True Mode into a physical manifestation of your hard work”
How To Use the Soul Gem
You can only use the Soul Gem if you have attained True Mode on your Type Soul character. The item will not work if you do not have it. Once you get the item, follow these steps to use it:
- Equip the Locked Soul Gem item from the inventory.
- If you use it, it will take away your True Mode. The item will become an Activated Soul Gem.
- Now you are free to reroll your element till you get the one you want.
- Use the Activated Soul Gem to get your True Mode back.
- Players may need to redo Stage 3 in case they lose it due to rerolling the element.
How To Obtain the Soul Gem
You can craft the Soul Gem or use the code devs released on August 28. The code marks the official Type Soul Discord server reaching a million users and gives players various rewards, such as Hogyouku Fragments, Rerolls, and more. Here is the code:

However, you can only use it to get the Soul Gem for the first 24 hours. As per an announcement from the devs on Discord. After that, you have to craft it. While the exact recipe needs testing, here is what you need to craft it:
