The Fairy Event update on August 30, 2025, added the Friendship Shop in Grow a Garden. This is a secondary shop you can unlock by feeding Sam, the Seed Shop NPC, some cooked food. How To Unlock the Friendship Shop in Grow a Garden: Feeding Seed Shop NPC Sam
Friendship Shop: An Overview
The Friendship Shop is a secondary section that Grow a Garden players can access by interacting with Sam, the NPC at the default Seed Shop. Players have to unlock the friendship shop by giving Sam cooked food. This allows you to browse and purchase a new set of seeds.
It is the first time Grow a Garden devs have added an alternative section in a default shop. The mechanic is similar to the Giant Goliath’s Friendship Shop during the second half of the Beanstalk Event.

How To Feed Sam and Unlock the Friendship Section at the Seed Shop
You can feed Sam, the NPC at the Seed Shop, by holding a cooked food item in your hands. Just follow these steps:
- Stand near the default Seed Shop and open your inventory.
- Go to the Cooked Food section and hold out a food item.
- You can feed Sam by long-pressing E on PC (long-pressing the Feed button on mobile).
If you have no cooked food, you need to unlock the Cooking Kit. The rarity of the cooked food item determines the amount of Friendship Points you get. Grow a Garden players can only feed Sam one item every 24 hours, so try to submit rare foods. You need 15 points to unlock Friendship level 1.
