While you can play solo, Helldivers 2 is more fun when playing with friends in multiplayer. Teaming up with your squad lets you coordinate and strategize. On top of that, the game does offer crossplay, so you can play with your squad regardless of their platform.

Playing a session with random players is possible and can be a good way to make new allies. However, playing with friends is arguably the superior way to do missions in the game. With that said, here is a guide on how you can join a multiplayer session with your friends in Helldivers 2.

How To Play Helldivers 2 With Friends in Multiplayer

Before anything else, you first need to connect with your friends in the game. Once they are on your friends list, you can easily play with them anytime. 

Here is a step-by-step guide on how to invite your friends and party up for a mission in Helldivers 2:

• Head to the Social menu.
• Check for “Your Friend Code” at the bottom of the menu.
• Select the Generate button and follow the process to get your eight-digit Friend Code.
• Share the code with your friends.
• Your friends need to copy and paste your code in the Social menu Search bar and send a friend request.
• Accept their request, and their gamer tags should appear on your in-game friends list.

Once you and your friends are connected, you can simply select their names and invite them to a multiplayer session. If they have their own lobby, you can also request to join them.

Can You Play Helldivers 2 With Friends From Other Platforms?

Yes, Helldivers 2 offers crossplay support so you and your friends can still play together despite the platform difference. This feature is automatically on by default, so you don’t have to worry about setting it up. Currently, crossplay is available on PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X/S players.

However, if you don’t want this feature, you can always turn it off in the settings menu. Once you disable it, you will only be matched with other players with the same platform as you. Keep in mind that this also means you won’t be able to play with friends from different platforms.
