Hollow Knight Silksong is finally out in the wild, and no, that’s not a dream. While the game retains the same structure as its predecessor, Silksong does come with a few new key additions in terms of its combat as well as progression. The game still follows a Metroidvania structure, with multiple paths leading to the main story as well as optional content. However, Silksong does seem to be a tad more streamlined compared to the original Hollow Knight. As such, the game can technically be finished in under 5 hours. In fact, there’s even an achievement for doing just that. However, for a regular playthrough, Hollow Knight Silksong should last you roughly 30-40 hours, albeit with some caveats.

How Long Does It Take To Complete Hollow Knight Silksong?
While we haven’t yet completed the game ourselves, we can speculate on Silksong’s completion time, based on the game’s structure and the original Hollow Knight. The previous game took roughly 30 hours to complete, if you simply beelined the main campaign with minimal deviations. However, a normal playthrough, which consisted of a fair amount of optional bosses, took roughly 40-50 hours. And from what we have played thus far, Silksong seems to follow a similar footprint. As for a completionist playthrough, that’s going to take you north of 100 hours, easily.
The original Hollow Knight, even without The Grimm Troupe DLC and Path of Pain, took roughly 110 hours for a 100% playthrough. Hollow Knight Silksong features more than 40 bosses, and a good majority of them are going to be optional. Suffice it to say, Silksong too will easily last you more than 100 hours if you plan to grab the Platinum Trophy for the game.

That said, here’s a rundown of the completion time estimates for Hollow Knight Silksong:
- Main Story Only: 30 hours
- Normal Playthrough: 40-50 hours
- Completionist Playthrough: 100+ hours
Is It Possible To Finish Hollow Knight Silksong in Under 5 Hours?
Based on the game’s achievements list, it does seem possible to finish Silksong in under 5 hours. However, such an impressive feat will require a lot of practice and knowledge of the game. Similar to the Resident Evil or Dark Souls games, Silksong is all about player skill. The more time you sink into the game, the better your completion times will get.
