Hollow Knight Silksong is a difficult game, and this is largely due to the game’s restrictive max health. You start with five health points, and while this may seem sufficient, most tough enemies deal 2 points of damage per attack.

How To Increase Your Max Health in Hollow Knight Silksong

You increase your max health in Hollow Knight Silksong by acquiring four mask shards. These four mask shards combine to form a mask, which then increases your max health by one. This increase is permanent, so you don’t have to worry about losing your HP if you die. Try to collect the mask shards as soon as you can, as you’ll need them against some of the bosses.

Where To Find Mask Shards in Hollow Knight Silksong?

Now that you know mask shards are essential to increasing your max health in Hollow Knight Silksong, it’s time to find them. In our playthrough so far, we’ve found four mask shards. We’ve listed their locations below and will add the rest as we discover them:

• Mask Shard #1: You’ll find your first mask shard at Bone Bottom. Talk to the vendor in the area and purchase the shard for 300 Rosaries. Since you’re unlikely to have that amount this early, our Rosary Farming guide should help.
• Mask Shard #2: You’ll find your next mask shard in Moss Grotto. Shortly after the section with the flying acid monster, head left and drop down into the pit below. Destroy the wall across the platform you’re standing on to reveal a mask shard.
• Mask Shard #3: You’ll find the third mask shard in the Far Fields area of the game. In the section with the geysers, use them to go all the way up until you reach an explosive platform. Destroy this platform to reveal another geyser, then use it to access a new path. You’ll find the mask shard at the end of this path.
• Mask Shard #4: You’ll find another mask shard in the Shellwood area of the game. Proceed to the eastern end of Shellwood and you’ll find the mask in the room with the water.
