Everything you need to know about the Lake Cynon’s statue puzzle in Hell Is Us, including its location and how to solve it.

Lake Cynon is one of the most unique locations in Hell Is Us, simply due to its limited scale. Most areas in Hell Is Us are quite vast, offering plenty of avenues for exploration. However, that’s not the case with Lake Cynon. It’s a very small area with just two puzzles on its surface. And of these two, only the puzzle associated with the statues and the water level is mandatory.
While Lake Cynon isn’t as big as locations like Acasa Marshes or even the Senedra Forest, it is an integral part of the main story. It is in Lake Cynon that you get to find the path that eventually leads you to the Eye of the God. However, before you can get to the parts with narrative importance, you need to solve the statue puzzle that locks the area underneath Lake Cynon. Here’s a comprehensive guide on how to solve Lake Cynon’s statue puzzle in Hell Is Us.

How To Reach Lake Cynon in Hell Is Us

To reach Lake Cynon, you first need to complete the story-related quests (Investigations) in Acasa Marshes and Vyssa Hills. Furthermore, in Vyssa Hills, you also need to complete Pentos Algea’s Tomb puzzle in Watcher’s Nest. After completing the puzzle, you will get a scroll that hints at Lake Cynon.
However, to unlock the location, you need to talk to either Abbot Jaffer in Acasa Marshes (Jova) or Earnest Cadell in Senedra Forest. After talking to either of these NPCs, you will unlock the travel location to Lake Cynon. It should be noted that Lake Cynon is the final location of Act 1. As such, if you have any pending Good Deeds before heading to the lake, make sure to complete them.
Once you head inside the catacombs in Lake Cynon, you won’t be able to return to other areas of Hadea until the end of Act 1. Furthermore, completing Act 1 also progresses some of the Good Deeds quests in Acasa Marshes and Vyssa Hills. Additionally, do make sure to visit the Watcher’s nest after completing Timeloops and Good Deeds for the reward Relics and weapons. Getting access to Grade 3 weapons before heading to Lake Cynon can help make some of the combat encounters significantly easier.
How To Solve the Statue Puzzle in Lake Cynon

Once you arrive at Lake Cynon, you will eventually reach a small pool of water, surrounded by four statues. The objective here is to drain the pool of water, which will reveal the path to the catacombs underneath it. However, to do so, you need to hit the statues in the right order. Every statue has a symbol etched on it. Furthermore, hitting the statues with your weapons activates them. As for the correct order of the symbols, you can find hints to that on the stone totems with the sun symbol on top. There are a total of 3 totems scattered in the vicinity of the pool. Furthermore, each totem has five grooves etched on it, with only one symbol marked on said grooves.
Essentially, you need to memorize the location of the symbol on the grooves, as that marks the correct order of the symbols you need to use to solve Lake Cynon’s puzzle. In addition to the sun totems, you can find a hint at one of the symbols via the Blue Flower Scroll (obtained from Pentos Algea’s Tomb) as well.

Correct Order of Symbols for the Lake Cynon Puzzle
The correct order of the symbols is: Crown > Water > Key > Star > Cup (Chalice). Hitting the statues in the correct order will reveal the mechanism to drain the water. Furthermore, to the right of the mechanism, you will also find a small gear, which is needed to activate said mechanism. Once the water is drained, you will be able to proceed to the catacombs. Make sure you are prepared with upgraded weapons and ample Med Kits. The catacombs are filled with Grade 2 enemies as well as a Haze of Grief mini-boss.
